Companions are idiots honestly, they like walking into traps and charging into enemy positions while you're trying to sneak. I did a few quests alone and found it a relief how much easier it actually is to not carry a dunce around.
Yea companions suck. Get rid of them and use the Lone Wanderer perk.
I've been playing on Survival mode, up to level 13 so far on the PC. It is daaamn tough and I do some serious ammo management, including using the ammo find perk.
Most of my guns are Legendary from drops, as well as half of my equipment. I really like the 10mm pistols so far, but I'm short on ammo. I've got a silenced, semi auto, double bullet pistol and one that is not silenced that does +10 energy damage per shot. I've got Lev 2 weapons/armour crafting and Lev 1 science, so everything is maxxed out to deal with the Survival mode leveled enemies.
This game is cool though and very interesting stuff is going on in the wilderness all the time.
I don't think any of these are mistakes really. Leveling is infinite and you can go any build at any time.

Agreed, mostly. Paladin Danse is useful just for being a total badass though. You can send him in against a group of super mutants and he'll take down all of them himself.
But yes, companions are mostly bad. I also don't like how they scold me every time I steal something or pick pocket someone. Piss off Piper, it's the apocalypse and I'm trying to find my son/save the world/build a town!
I adore Dogmeat! I got a little lonely wandering the wasteland in Fallout 3 so it's good to have a buddy, even though he's a little silly sometimes. He makes up for it when he sniffs out a cache of goodies every now and then.
When you're in workshop mode press E to select the bed. Then you'll be able to move it. I'm not sure why you couldn't move when when you first crafted them, but you should.
That was my noobishness. I didn't realize that when in your settlement, you could craft anywhere in the workshop mode. I thought you had to be standing at the bench only. So I had a semi circle of 5 beds right behind the bench.
Now the dominos are starting to fall into place. Was trying to figure out the power thing and built a windmill generator. Trying to figure out how to connect it to a light stand that I built I kept noticing you needed ceramic and I'm wondering where the hell I'd get that. Start looking around the town some more and that's when I realize that you can scrap basically anything in town, including toilets and sinks! Ha! That's where you get ceramic! I'm really going to enjoy that part of the game I think.
I still don't quite get the put into storage part. Seems like the weapons bench/workbench etc all share a common pool but not 100% sure on that.

I think the benches in a settlement all share the same storage.

They only share when you've sent a settler to a location for a supply line though I don't completely understand what that entails.
Edit: I see in the Mythbusting video you can pick up objects and bodies, how do you do that on console. Would like to get rid of some corpses lying around in my settlement.

Yeah agreed I was astonished by how much your companions hate fun. Preston got upset when I joined the Brotherhood, Strong dislikes lockpicking period. I was in Covenant on an investigation into stuff and Codsworth was preaching about "forgetting right from wrong" because I picked up a note with proof related to the case. Deacon disliked when I took Jet for a tough fight. And pretty much all of them hate when you use charisma options to barter out more caps from a quest.

Press and hold the interact button. It's E on PC, A on Xbox and X on PS4.

Just give them a command before entering a stealth area. Getting the companion to stay is 2 button presses
I have better things to do than play "Fast Travel to home Simulator 2015". It's even worse with this game because of the importance of things like typewriters.

I've had a companion tag along so far (only three missions in even though it seems like I've played lots). But I definitely went companionless in Skyrim, and seems like a decent idea here. Even if it's just so I can get all the XP and be all stealthy and evil-like

I'll have to check out the lone wanderer perk
It's great. When you have no companion you get extra carry weight, damage resistance and damage. And like I said above, the perk works with Dogmeat, but none of the other companions.
