1. RHP - Stroman
2. RHP - Estrada
3. RHP - Dickey
4. RHP - Hutchison
5.
Sure would be nice to add a decent lefty into the rotation, one good enough to push Dickey and Hutch down to #4 and #5.
That's if Hutch can even be good enough to start next year.

Would be a decent pick up IMO.
Probably good for 30 or so starts and 180-190 innings, used to pitching in a hitters park. Could see him winning 15 with the Jays offense.

Honestly, I hope that they find someone who could fit into the 2 spot, above Estrada. I would love to see a discounted Shark, or a Zimmerman (although the money/term might be too much). Chen would slot in behind Estrada, and I think that a more aggressive move is needed to revisit the playoffs.
I also think that the 5 spot is going to be a race between Sanchez/Osuna/Hutch, with the losers going to the pen. I have a strange suspicion that Sanchez gains some control and gets that spot, and Hutchinson becomes a revelation in the pen. as a lights out set-up guy. Hendricks remains Hendricks, in the 7th.
Fill the extra pen with Cecil, Loup and lefties.
Price/Greinke are Rogers smokescreens, like every year. The best that we can hope for is a rebound, or sneaky good pitcher, like Estrada was for us last year. Possibly the third or fourth most sought after starter, if the GM is feeling bold.

Also have to wonder if Rogers will look at this past year's strategy, and tell LaCava/Shapiro that they have to a bit of money to play with, but not take a big enough splash to shore up the pitching in the offseason, instead, having the carrot dangling of more money to spend in July (just like this year) to get a rental SP and/or bullpen.
Of course, they promised that two years ago, and the Jays, who had clawed back with a big win streak before the All Star break, fell off the map when Rogers pulled that early season promise off the table when no help arrived.

See here's the thing... all three of those guys will require decent money (not as much as Price/Greinke but still significant), decent term (4ish years), and a draft pick. They're all good pitchers but none of them will wow and I don't see a capacity for surplus value. If we're going to get a 2nd tier pitcher in free agency I think I'd rather get Kazmir. He'll cost a little less then those guys (maybe the same AAV but I wager less term) and has no compensation pick attached.
Something I was thinking about for the bullpen... I wonder if Brandon Morrow would accept a bullpen role now? I mean... will a team really depend on him to be a starter again?

Damn, should've re-signed him. Pretty good relief pitcher for the Jays

Jays are 1 of 3 teams in trade talks with Indians right now. Would be starting OF going to Cleveland in exchange for SP.
OF position of depth for Jays so this seems par the course. will be interesting to see what names pop up in rumours.

Jon Morosi ✔ @jonmorosi
#BlueJays, #Dodgers, #Yankees among the teams to have at least preliminary trade talks with #Indians, sources say. (1/2)
2:39 PM - 18 Nov 2015

For each of 3 teams mentioned, #Indians would obtain everyday OF and part with a starting pitcher. Many scenarios in play for CLE. (2/2)
2:40 PM - 18 Nov 2015
Just stopped in to post this.
The Speculation is that is would take one of Pompey or Pillar, plus a pitcher (Hutchinson/Sanchez?) to bring in one of Cleveland's pitchers.
As those pitchers are Kluber, Carrasco, Salazar and Bauer, I don't think it's a bad move in any way, as much as everyone loves Pompey and Pillar.
Edit : Of course, if they could swing Sanchez and Revere for Salazar....

Would've loved to see Pennington come into Game 7 at the bottom of the 9th, with a 12-2 score the Blue Jays way, to troll the Royals and Renyolds. And, as he was the first position player in the long history of baseball to pitch in the post season, 2 appearances would stand for a long long time.

Interesting that the first move for Shapiro is to slide back to Cleveland. Wonder if the Indians new management would be reluctant to do a deal with their old boss, when push comes to shove.
But, this is the year to trade non core Jays players. Outside of Goins, and part timers like Smoak, all of those non-core guys had very good post seasons at the plate and in the field, were showcased on national TV, and thus their value is likely at its highest.

What a weird condition... one of his shoulder bones never fused during fetal development. I wonder why it's only now causing him issues.
Anyways I hope it's closer to the 4 then the 5 month prognosis. He was sooooo good last year. If he'd played the rest of the season like he played the first part pre-injury he'd have probably been rookie of the year.

As announced, his role with Sportsnet is very part time.
