The first ten minutes was an embarrassment. Yes they picked up their play however they still looked slow and the breakouts were still sloppy. The lightning slowed their game down to the Flames level, not the other way.
Christ what does a team need to do to be "playing well" by your standards?

Team Canada from 2002?

Consistent.

But mostly play desperate. They play with intensity in the last few minutes of a game when they are down. The PP is anemic. The defensive zone coverage is not NHL caliber.

Listen, they have play decent for small stretches but they are missing any sort of identity. Anyways, I don't need to go further. It is my opinion but their record and GA supports it.

I'm convinced you haven't watched any Flames hockey this year. The Flames of this year have no intensity in their game when they are down with a few minutes left. Pretty much the complete opposite of last season. Unless icing the puck is considered playing with intensity.

I'm firmly in the 'Sit Back and Enjoy Hockey' camp. Since the Detroit game, I've been entertained just about every game, and have seen enough flashes of brilliance and stretches of domination to believe this team is much better than its record. The results may start coming, they may not. But if the Flames play at the level they have since (and including) the Detroit game, I'm sure they won't finish last in the West.

Results are extremely unpredictable in this game, and focussing on them can be frustrating. In an alternate version of this game, Gio's stick is in a slightly different position and doesn't take that penalty, Monahan buries one of his 3 or 4 great opportunities (he may not be driving the play, but he's still getting himself in great scoring areas, but that's a topic for a different rant), and we're talking about a very different result, with essentially the same execution.

This could be said about almost every game, win or lose, but the point is if the team keeps executing like they did most of this game, results will follow.

Anyways, this game I quite enjoyed watching Ferland/Grant/Jooris in the offensive zone. Tenacious, fast, physical and some offensive upside. Defensively, I noticed them hemmed in a few times, but overall a very dependable 4th line.

Bennett is worth the price of admission almost on his own these days, so relentless. He is the perfect combination for drawing penalties: fast, tenacious and, um, not all that difficult to knock down.

I'm liking Hamilton a lot lately and would like to see how a top pairing of he and Brodie would work. Sitting Wideman would be prudent at some point, and if it happens I would like Gio with one of Smid, Engelland or Nakladal perhaps to try to form a stable second pair.

You can't play the "if his stick was here" or "if he had been a bit further down there" game on one side on not do it for the other.

Tampa could have blown us out in the first period if we weren't lucky.

Yes of course. I'm not even saying they should have won. But this season they've played well enough to win more than 5 games, so focussing on specific plays that 'lead' to losses is going to end up driving you crazy/crazier.

That 4th line was money, Bennett is a stud and Hamilton is playing better - he would definitely benifit from playing with Brodie.

Why do you cheer for this team? Its a honest question. You spit hate about everything, Cry about everything , hate everyone you see. Find a new team (and board) that's more to your liking and move on. Life is short. I hear the Blackhawks organization is pretty good at winning.

Thank you, this is whats happening on here way too much. Hockey is a compilation of plays and mistakes. To focus on one bad in the culmination of plays and go off on it will drive people crazier.

I may be alone but still enjoy watching my team play, frustrating at times but can take the bad with the good. Losing sucks and winning is Good.

Go Flames!

Hudler is not as effective as last year.

Have not noticed Hamilton lately, which is a good thing. I think Engelland has been plus or even in his last half dozen games.

Not sure why Gio was complaining about that penalty so much - seemed clear to me.

Cause this is the team I decided to hitch my wagon to as a young kid and I'm free to spend my money supporting whichever team I wish.

Guess what, if I was such a bad fan like you seem to be implying, I wouldn't be on here bitching and posting about every possible thing that happens to this team. I wouldn't have been to all but 2 home games so far this year.

I just wouldn't watch, I wouldn't care.

Not every fan has to have the teams collective jockstrap firmly in their mouth like you. Covering your ears, closing your eyes and pretending everything is swell might be your way to deal with this complete disappointment of a season but frankly when I sink money into season tickets, jerseys and all of the time watching and supporting this team, I get to complain when they're not putting out a good product. This is an awful product. Worst in the league and on pace to be the worst in Flames history.

But yes. You're such a great fan. Here you go. Print this off and stick it you shirt. You earned it:
