Need to go catch me a Knights game. Would LOVE to finally have a Knight on the Flames and put Fata behind us...

A big, fast, physical RW that can snipe.

Won't get too hung up on it. As long as a decent skating forward has decent size and can use it effectively; all are 3 types are a need for the Flames in their top 6.

But based on what the NHL roster sits as right now, they need an elite sniper with size more than anything else, but that can easily change over the course of the season, especially if Hudler is moved out and somehow the Flames acquire a young forward with goal scoring potential.

Regardless there are some big body forwards that all project to be top 6 forwards and the Flames are in good position to get one if they get a top 15 pick.

So basically Iginla 2.0.

I do want someone with an overpowering shot. We don't have anyone like that anymore and it shows (Particularily on the PP). I also really wouldn't mind Chychrun since we really need one more guy to round out the top 4 D.

Updated with current standings.

1 Columbus Auston Matthews RW Zurich (NLA) 6' 0" 198
2 Toronto Jacob Chychrun D Sarnia (OHL) 6' 2" 194
3 Calgary Jesse Puljujärvi RW Kärpät (SM-liiga) 6' 2.75" 196
4 Anaheim Matthew Tkachuk LW London (OHL) 5' 11.75" 188
5 Colorado Jake Bean D Calgary (WHL) 6' 0" 176
6 Philadelphia Patrik Laine LW Tampere(SM-liiga) 6' 4" 210
7 Buffalo Tyson Jost C Penticton (BCHL) 6' 0" 190
8 Carolina Dante Fabbro D Penticton (BCHL) 6' 0" 172
9 Edmonton Max Jones LW London (OHL) 6' 1.5" 180

Puljujarvi would be perfect addition to round out our top 6!

5 wingers in the top 9 is perfectly scripted for the Flames rebuild.

Liking the new format for draft lottery if we move up in the standings a bit. Still got a shot at top 3.

Max Jones looks like a more offensively talented Vancouver playoff series Michael Ferland in this:

(P.S. That is Flames prospect Riley Bruce that fails to clear out Jones on his 2nd goal)

If hes there at our pick...but this team is so deep in defense prospects that its important to focus on our top six and especially someone with the shot/size combo. One of Brandon Hickey or Rasmus Andersson will round out the top 4.. book it

The more I see of Patrick Laine, the more I like him. Just has a nose for when to make smart cuts to the net and keep his options open at the same time. Seems to always have a good pass and a nice shooting area open when he has the puck. Don't mind the skating either, looks better than Barkovs.

Puljujärvi gets the edge over Laine for me given Ivan Hlinka incident for Laine.

https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/comm...linka_tourney/

Finnish player sent home from Ivan Hlinka tourney for aggressive conduct towards own coach.

Eurohockey.com is reporting that Finnish 1998-born player Patrik Laine has been sent home from the team after, "showing the Finnish coach the finger and also making a death threat against the Finnish head coach."

I liked Puljujarvi way more before and even more now. Just a gross attitude from Laine. Don't know if it's just an isolated incident. I also think Puljujarvi has more flash and just seems like he has a constant motor.

Looks to be a few decent RW options no matter where we draft. Gauthier obviously stands out. Tall, heavy, scores goals. Ticks all the boxes and likely around our draft range 10-20th.

Heard Jones in an interview before the start of the season and he sounded like a pro already. Prime Lucic 2.0. A little smaller but more agile.

So our future core is shaping out to be,

Gaudreau, Bennett, Monahan, Matthews/Puljujarvi, Brodie, Hamilton.

Laine would be my choice if we can't get Matthews.

Getting any of Puljujarvi, Nylander or Laine to fill the 1st line RW spot would be great if the Flames are not going to make the playoffs. Having Matthews would make the lineup interesting. Probably would have to shift Bennett to the wing permanently if that was the case.

Gaudreau-Matthews- who knows
Bennett-Monahan- who knows
