Notes from Nov 11 Practice
Roger Millions @RogMillions
Flames on the ice in TB. Blue sweaters for Jooris and Bollig likely mean it's no go for them against Bolts tomorrow
Roger Millions @RogMillions
Ramo in visitors goal for practice. I suspect he plays again. Although Coach will have last say on that. #Flames

It's hard to believe this team even practices at times. You'd think this would be a tough practice where certain players are forced to work extra on some aspects of their games. How's the mood around the team?

Ramo again? Hartely really must not have any faith in Ortio.
I guess this means Raymond slots back in. Not sure i would want him in instead of Jooris.

Jooris had jump to his game the last 3 or 4 outings. Head scratcher to sit him.
His minor penalty was iffy since the guy was falling anyway. And it's not like he took an instigator at his fight, so why sit him? Odd indeed.

Ugh. Hartley's go-to response to a bad game: bench Jooris for no real reason.

Hopefully Ortio slots in. I know the coach doesn't seem to have faith in him, but Ramo just plain ol' sucks right now and you just know the team is going in fragile as is.

He took somewhat of a bad penalty.
Though, being aggressive is what Jooris needs to do to be effective. If he's not playing like that, he's useless. Penalties like that will come as a result.

#Flames practice lines----Raymond Grant Ferland
Gaudreau Monahan Hudler

#Flames D Ladislav Smid is paired with TJ Brodie today, a good hint captain Mark Giordano — not practising — will be in lineup tomorrow.

On the flip side, he's had 2 good games to Ortio's 0.
I'd rather they just give me their equipment next and I'll play net instead at this point

More unlucky than bad. He lined the guy up and the guy started falling before the hit. Nothing he coulda done to stop himself from hitting him.
But even still, if one bad penalty gets you benched... why hasn't the entire team seen the pressbox at one point or another?

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Sounds like Mark Giordano's absence from CGY practice today is likely to be termed a "maintenance day."

I'd imagine it's the fact Jooris, along with Giordano, have taken stupid penalties all season long. People talk about Bollig being a dummy on the ice but Gio and Jooris have been just as stupid this season, putting their team at a disadvantage a needless amount of times. If Jooris isn't skating his heart out he doesn't bring much to the team, for a guy that gets just over 10 minutes of ice time per game, he shouldn't be forcing his team to kill off a penalty for 2 minutes. That's the reason the entire team hasn't seen the pressbox at some point, the entire team isn't a fringe player continually taking dumb penalties.
As for Giordano, this guy has been a disaster in his own end from the drop of the puck in game one. Don't think I ever appreciated Brodie more when we were able to understand just how integral he was to Giordano's game. Hamilton was bad to start but he didn't help that his partner, the captain, was playing like a teenage rookie (and still is). Gio's drop to one knee and desperatley poke at the puck signature move might be worse then Dion Phaneuf's One-Handed Poke Check of Doom.
Giordano's contract was always one that looked iffy in the final two years but you don't mind that if it buys quality play at a lower price until then... this is just totally unacceptable though. If the Flames don''t turn this road trip around Treliving shop start shopping Hudler, Wideman etc ASAP. Jesse Pullvarji is looking might exciting as a draft pick and he's the guy I want the Flames all in for.

Jooris and Bollig have been noticeably bad with the undisciplined penalties. Both are top 10 in the league for Minor Penalties Taken/60 among players who have been in 5 or more games. With almost everything going wrong at some point with this team all season, anything done to rein in a negative is a good move IMO.

For those that want Ortio in net, remember the next two games are back-to-back. If Ramo is in for TB, we'll probably see Ortio in the next game against WSH.
