Interesting that iginla might be available if the Montreal rumours are true... Which they might not be. We've had lots of discussions on other threads about trading for him but I never actually thought he would available this season.

If the Avs are waiting to the trade deadline to move him I imagine that means they're looking for prospects/picks. Would love for the flames to bring him back but would much rather make a hockey trade and acquire him without giving up any high end picks.

If the flames could go on a run and be in a solid playoff spot by the trade deadline I wouldn't be surprised if he had Calgary on his list of teams he would waive his no trade clause for.

Iginla on a line with Johnny would be a beautiful thing. Then again... Having him with Bennett would be pretty awesome too.

Iggy is probably wanting to go to a legit cup contender but I could see the Flames being a team he would return to if we are comfortably in a playoff spot. I used to think I wanted Iggy back someday but honestly I feel that ship has sailed.

Flames are still building to the future and a 38 year old is not the answer. I could totally see him going to the Habs though

Marleau will only waive his NMC for 3 teams:

Sharks forward Patrick Marleau would accept a trade to one of three teams, an NHL source has informed CSNCalifornia.com.

The New York Rangers, Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings would all be locations that the Sharks’ all-time leading scorer would deem acceptable.

The Rangers have had scouts at the last two Sharks games, including Doug Risebrough on Tuesday night against the Islanders.

It’s unclear at this time whether Marleau, who has a no-trade clause, is pushing for the move, or whether the team initiated it. Marleau, who is in the second of a three-year, $20 million contract, does not have an agent.

I'm all for acquiring a goalie as long as the cost isn't absurd, which it shouldn't be given historical markets for goalies.

I don't even blame the team's issues with goaltending, but the three guys have received opportunities, failing to deliver, so perhaps a change will result in a string of games where the new guy steals some wins for the Flames, correcting their confidence, allowing them to relax and play their game like last year.

Should try something though as long as it's reasonable.

I can't see any of the teams on his list actually picking him up....I think his list will have to keep on expanding but it seems like he wants out.

Not saying its a bad choice, but you don't hear of many high profile players putting Nashville on their list.

I'm sure that if sj will take on Bickell Chicago could definitely make it work. Don't discount LA with the past SJ connection (Sutter/Lombardi)

Sure, the hawks would love Bickell+ for Marleau but the sharks aren't going to give him away. The sharks don't have to deal him even if he demands a trade. If they trade him, the sharks will want a decent return at least.

CSN’s Kevin Kurz reported Tuesday Marleau would waive for Anaheim, Los Angeles or the Rangers. There’s a better chance of me being Miss America than San Jose trading Marleau to the Kings. It’s my belief the Sharks and Rangers have talked, but the problem is not this year. It’s next season, when New York has to sign Kevin Hayes, Chris Kreider and JT Miller, even as Dan Boyle comes off the cap.

Anaheim? That’s an interesting one. Ducks GM Bob Murray is Wilson’s old defence partner, arguably the latter’s best friend in the business.

Friedman was on 960 recently (it's on the 960 webpage) and mentioned that Marleau has just finished building a dreamhome in the SJ area. It's expected that if he does move, he'll want to stay near by.

oiler fan coming in peace - would a Wideman for Ference deal be fair.

Wideman sucks but he can put up some points. The Flames don't need that as you have Gio, Hamilton and Brodie.

Ference sucks but he can be ok defensively in a 3rd pair. He is an upgrade on Smid but barely.

I wouldn't take Ference even if he was for free and came with a 3rd round pick
