Russell trying to get way to fancy and having the puck taken off his stick numerous times
Hamilton needs to wake up or Hartley needs to wake him up
If the D were not getting burnt wide then they played it overly safe, didnt bother standing the panthers up at the blue line and let them set up.

I'm not sure how you can defend Ramo tonight? No one is defending the defence because they were brutal too, but 2 of the 4 goals should have been stopped. Period.
Doesn't matter how bad the giveaways are...if it's a poor shot, it needs to be saved. Guaranteed Ramo is sitting in that locker room as we speak unhappy with his performance.

Saturday night-turned the corner, or step in right direction. Positive vibes all around.
Tonight-this team is trash. Let's trade the captain. Season is over.
Season is never won or loss because of one game in November.
Lots of work to do but one loss versus a eastern team is far from diasterous. It sucks and stings but nothing a couple road wins can't cure. No one thought we would beat Pittsburgh so why not go to Tampa and snatch two points?

I dunno, Ortio has been serving up 6 packs this year. R4mo can at least keep it under a high five.

Especially when almost every opportunity you face is from between the hash marks and the opposition forwards have no fear of getting knocked on their can.

lol
you must be exhausted after those mental gymnastics
I'm not saying the defense hasn't been bad - it has.
But goalies have to stop the puck once in a while

Hey now, maybe we get lucky and Treliving pulls off a magical trade where we send gio to nashville, and nashville sends a bag a beans to the habs and we get both Weber and Subban in exchange.Somehow I could live with that type a return.
Right this is what happens after drinking too many Guiness but crazier things have happened laughs.

Just because the D was bad doesn't absolve Ramo for letting in soft goals as well. The defense and goaltending can both be bad.
The 1st and 4th goals were soft, soft goals that had nothing to do with the defense playing poorly and everything to do with Ramo sucking.

This team is hurting my brain right now. Play good and feel good for a game or two, then right back to being one of the worst teams in the league. Its really quite depressing.

Rough night. Questionable defence and goalkeeping do not win you many NHL games. Auston Matthews here we come.

I never bought that the team turned the corner on Saturday. One really good game out of 16 is not what I would call turning the corner. Tonights team is the team we have seen most of the season. They can still make the playoffs but it's getting more doubtful as the season progresses. The defense is as bad as there is in the NHL but that is correctable by coaching but the goaltending is a lost cause. I said before the season in a goaltending thread if Ramo was the starter this season the Flames would miss the playoffs. That's not looking too far fetched less than two months into the season. No team will make the playoffs with AHL level goaltending.

Despite his points, Hudler has not impressed me this season.

If The Shooter Tutor was in net tonight it would have been a lot worse. The Panthers would have chased Hiller in the first period. Ramo ain't great, but he's better than The Shooter Tutor. Guys who stand there waiting for the game to come to them are in for a very short shelf life in the new NHL. A goaltender who does nothing more than let the puck hit him is worthless in this league.
Bottom line on this mess, the book is out on the Flames and the team just isn't adjusting. Hartley needs to alter his game plan and get the forwards helping out the defense, and the defense to start playing with an edge that they lost over the summer. They are leaving the goaltenders to fend for themselves and giving up way too many golden opportunities. Time for Hartley to earn his money and prove that Jack Adams wasn't a fluke.

Hard to be impressed by anyone this season outside of the mighty Gaudreau really... I thought Kulak was good in his time up and I think Grant has some good jam, but my expectations are super low for call ups.
I'm gonna say it,
Could have used Bollig tonight.

Serious Question. Has there been any Jack Adams winners who survived the season after they won it ?

I wonder if Hudler is hurt somehow. He just doesn't seem to be skating very well, even for him.

Its really hard to watch my favorite player (monahan) play so poorly
He's been in the right place at the right time and gotten points but he's a disaster defensively. When it comes to effort, it looks like he's pacing himself for a marathon instead of a 40 second shift. I would have never expected such a drastic step backwards from him. He went from sheltered minutes to being the #1 center on this team and rose to the occasion in his 2nd year, and in his 3rd he looks OK at the very best and completely lost more often than not. Really hopes he gets his #### together soon, dude is a -5 with 10 points himself. Not a good look when the team is giving up 4+ goals a night

The team has bad defence because of Hartley's defensive system. The D is not boxing out, instead they're stepping in to try and block shots and it's leaving the front of our net incredibly exposed.
Hamilton mentioned it in an interview and compared it to Boston where they box out, and here in Calgary their job is step in front of the player to try and block/prevent the puck from getting to the net. Problem is, the puck is getting through to the net, and because our D isn't boxing out, they then have to fight for positioning...and it's not working. Boy oh boy it's not working.

What a shoddy game and very frustrating to watch most of the way through. Gio, Wideman, Englland all look lost. Great game by Jones, Bennett and Gaudreau and I'm really am liking Grant out there too.

Just for you
Wideman - the puck dies on his stick more than any other d man. If he is shooting I can breathe easy. If he looks like he is ready to make a move or get fancy I hold my breath.

Almost all of them?
Most recently the last 6 winners: Patrick Roy, Paul MacLean (fired 2 seasons after), Ken Hitchcock, Dan Bylsma (fired 3 seasons after), Dave Tippett, Claude Julien, etc..
Who was the last coach that didn't survive the following season? Ted Nolan?
