Crazy this team is only 3pts back of a playoff spot. I am hoping a really strong November/December has this team sitting in a spot by the holidays

And the home-stand you mentioned really does look like a solid 'Make or Break'
This is what I came in to say. Those three games against opponents we're directly competing with, will be the difference.

It's funny how 2 wins in a row stops all the talk of about how the season is over and no playoffs. And we haven't even played 4 remaining Pacific teams. I don't think at any point anybody can say any team is out. Not in this dumpster division. A couple losses and your looking on from the outside. A short winning streak and your clawing at the door.

Hopefully the boys are over that losing hump and can get back on track.

I know we're up against some stiff competition. For starters, every opponent we're about to face has gotten really good goaltending. That said, in my opinion the Flames should be able to carry the play against all four of them: Tiny sample size (~6-9 games, 9GP for Flames), but Flames stats (5 vs 5 Close) since the Detroit win:

51.8% Corsi For (9th best in league over that period)
53.1% Fenwick For (7th best in league over that period, top 6 are all in a playoff spot in the West)
62.4% High-Danger Scoring Chances For (2nd Best in league over that period)
56.5% Scoring Chances For (Best in league over that period.)

Basically, our team has been pretty good when the score has been close (within one goal in periods 1 or 2, or tied in period 3).

On a side note, our opponents in those categories over that same recent-ish period?

Florida (Jagr, then Barkov Injured)
41.7% Corsi For (Dead Last)
40.0% Fenwick For (Dead Last)
41.8% High-Danger Scoring Chances For (27th Best)
49.0% Scoring Chances For (18th Best)

Tampa
48.5% Corsi For (20th Best)
45.1% Fenwick For (27th Best)
44.8% High-Danger Scoring Chances For (24th Best)
44.1% Scoring Chances For (27th Best)

Washington
54.5% Corsi For (6th Best)
52.3% Fenwick For (9th Best)
48.1% High-Danger Scoring Chances For (21st Best)
48.4% Scoring Chances For (21st Best)

Chicago (Keith injured)
50.4% Corsi For (12th best)
49.8% Fenwick For (17th best)
53.3% High-Danger Scoring Chances For (7th Best)
50.5% Scoring Chances For (16th best)

Basically none of these teams have been dominating at even strength. The Flames need to keep them off the power play and get decent saves once in a while and we have a shot at going 4-0.

Not to sure if Hartley is still using the system but last game was the start of our third seven game series. Currently we are 0-2. This current segment right now starts with a win and it ends until the Chicago game at home.

Awesome, thanks Bingo.

I honestly think this team is just starting to hit their stride. They're the Seabiscuit of the NHL. They're good, everyone knows they're good so they had to fall behind in order to feel like they're the underdog again.

Not only do I think they'll go 4-0 on this trip, I think a few players are going to step it up big time. I can see a lot of people changing their mind on Dougie and saying he's for real after these 4 games.

If they are lucky 1-2-1. I'm not going to be convinced they have turned the corner until they can make games like Saturday the norm.

4 points. Win over Florida, loss to Tampa, win over Washington and loss to Chicago.

I picked 3 points too

Yes, I think they are playing better
Yes, I think they are getting more confident

but I'm guessing there's another "crap we're not there yet" correction coming on this trip.

would love to be wrong though.

a 3-1-0 trip would certainly put them back in things

Baby steps and 4 points. Not bad, not great, but this is still a pretty tough trip. I just hope they play more like the Pens game on a consistent basis.

I think we win against the panthers and the lightning. Lose to the Caps and lose to the Hawks in OT.

So 5 points for this road trip.

Yeah I just don't see the goaltenders being good enough through four games and the special teams are still horrible.

Major respect to shutout for sticking with the appropriate zero points.

Wasn't off by much, especially considering the Washington game went to OT so easily could have gone either way.
