What I don't get about these guys who buy a team so their kid can play is how they don't have the social acumen to realize how terrible it makes them look. I mean, setting aside the ethics of the tactic itself, are they really that obsessed with their own kid that they don't see that to everyone else they're a joke?

Parents learn how to manipulate things to get their kids on teams right out of pee-wee, why be surprised when it happens at higher levels. There's tons of parents out there who would if they could.

Feel for the kid caught in the middle, and his teamates. tough spot to be in.

Katz just discovered that he can put Curly on any of his teams.

#somethingspecial

One game of NHL experience along side McD and he'll be eligible for GM by the time he's 20.

Coaches have been re-hired

Frank Seravalli @frank_seravalli
Confirming OHL's Flint Firebirds coaches John Gruden and Dave Karpa have been re-hired. Players meeting with Dave Branch at 4pm.

I honestly wouldnt have done it. I'd have walked away.

Hes just going to fire them when the media frenzy dies down for 'hockey-related reasons.'

Dead men walking.

I wonder if the OHL basically told the owner to fix this ****ing mess, or else.

It'll be verrrrrry interesting to see how much ice Jr gets now that this has become national news.

Will Nault on the 9 on clock show on Fan 960 says he's been traded to the Sudbury Wolves.

There aren't many head coaching jobs out there, and if Gruden has hopes of moving up the ranks, he has to take his chances where they exist. That said, because of this move, if the team does fire him again any time soon, this is going to blow right back up. So he definitely has job security through the end of the season, at least.

There was a rumour going around that Jr. was/will be traded today as well. Though if the kid is barely an OHLer, I'm not sure I put a lot of stock into that.

Nonsense! This is only their first time!

These guys are strictly Amateur Hour compared to the Oilers. They're in the Big Leagues.

I wonder if they play on ice as toxic as the rest of Flint's drinking water.

If the Edmonton Oilers' players had any moral fibre, they'd have quit en masse years ago.
