They also said credit to the Flames and they deserve the bounces they've been getting. Also said the game could be 6-1, 7-1 if it wasn't for MAF.

As much as we'd like to say it was intentional in my opinion it was a fluke goal.

Ha! Nice 65th birthday present for me!!

Thought the boys played a solid game; they looked for each other all night - very few sloppy plays or passes. Terrific concentration and a dedicated mindset. They came out with a goal in mind and played to make it happen. Thought they defended Ramo really well, boxing out the Pens time and time again.

Nicely done! Now - the trick is to keep that solidity and make it work through the next few road games.

Weird, I was checking out TSN highlights this morning and this goal wasn't even included

You still use TSN for highlights? Pffff

They skip goals and give the leafs double the airtime of all the other teams. NHL.com my friend

Just avoid the Flames' own highlight packages, they've added some ridiculous advertising graphics to them that make them ultra annoying. I concur with the NHL.com suggestion.

Anyone notice Bollig's absence? I didn't think so.

No need for pure truculence (we still out hit them 19-12).

Ramo had a better game as of late, no doubt, and our D stepped up to help him out which was awesome. But I thought that short side goal the Pens scored on him was pretty weak. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy he got a W - and he needed it. But when that puck went in short side all I thought to myself was... "ugh, here we go".

Ramo's stats, first 5 games and last 2 games:

1-4-0 / 0.871 SP / 4.45 GAA

2-0-0 / 0.942 SP / 1.49 GAA

Last year's Flames were back last night. In fact, I would argue that they are better than last year. When they have played well, they are controlling more of the play and are out-chancing their opponents.

The problem has been defense and goaltending, which has been destroying their will. Well, those things have improved dramatically lately, and with that, the Flames are looking like a very good team again.

Looking at the standings, I couldn't care less what the record has to be to hit 97 points or whatever target you want to use. The bottom line is that they need to finish 3rd in the Pacific.

I will give LA a spot and Anaheim a spot, for the sake of argument. That means the Flames have to pass ARI, SJS and VAN.

ARI: phfft.

SJS: 7-7-0 They have lost 14 pts. Flames have lost 19 pts (9 Ls and 1 OTL). So the Flames need to gain 5 pts on them in the next 67 games - including 5 head-to-head games.

VAN: 6-4-4 They have lost 12 pts . The Flames need to gain 7 pts on them, which is 1 pt every 9.28 games.

Basically, the Flames are one hot streak - like an 8-2-2 stretch or something like that - from being in a playoff position.

This season is not over.

Anyone who thinks the playoffs are out of reach needs to take a good long look at the division.

True, but did anybody notice his replacement Raymond? The guy played less than 6 minutes and brought nothing.

I don't have a problem with Bollig being the 12th/13th forward on the team. I have a problem with Raymond being the 12th/13th forward on the team.

You have a really low standard for this roster.

President's Trophy or bust.

Sure, and that's great against a team like Pittsburgh.

Against teams like SJ, LA, St Louis, Anaheim, Nashville, Winnipeg its a completely different story.

I thought both goals were pretty weak. He didn't really get tested much tbh, but did make two pretty difficult saves on good chances and was solid.

We need to be slower to play them?

Give me an example where he would make a difference. I'll give you 12 where it's a negative difference

I would call up Agostino and send down Raymond. Grant has shown well maybe another guy injected from the farm might help.
