Default TSN Top 10 Uniform Moments featuring Theo

Saw a TSN Top 10 clip today that was interesting featuring the best sports uniform moments. Fast forward to the 2.25 mark if you want to see Theo Flurey.

http://www.tsn.ca/video/top-10-uniform-moments~743457

*Spoiler Alert

Does anyone remember this game or have any additional info to add such as why he wasn't allowed to wear the fans jersey or why the equipment staff didn't have a spare #14 kicking around?? I suspect some players change their jersey in the intermission or at least once a game. I remember reading or seeing a video about Kipper changing his jersey 3-4 time a game due to the sweat.

Interesting clip regardless in my opinion.

I Don't remember the reasoning behind it but I do remember listening to Peter Maher describe the situation. It was like I saw it with my own eyes.

Because of my region I couldn't see the video but if I remember correctly the jersey was covered in autographs.

*Not available in your region*

I can't tell you how many videos are posted on here that I can't watch due to regional restrictions. Really a bummer.

Get the Hola extension for Chrome and you'll be able to watch from anywhere. Played the video with no problem from here in Cambodia.

I kind of vaguely remember that, but I can't honestly say if I saw it in game or in a past clip.

He attempted to wear an autographed jersey to replace his bloodied one, but that wasn't allowed. He ended up playing with a number 76 jersey. There's a youtube account (Magicman) that is pretty good about uploading Top 10s from TSN, I'll look for this one later today and post it if it shows up.

I actually do remember the game. His sweater was so bloodied the refs forced him to change it. Can't remember how he got it bloodied though.

For whatever reason, there was no extra. At first I think a fan handed him a Theo but it was too small, then another fan handed him a Theo but it was covered in autographs and refs again didn't allow it.

He finally came out with a no-name 74 or something. And if memory serves, it was too big (classic Theo).

IIRC according to his book he gave it back when he realized it was autographed. Wasn't that the refs wouldn't allow it.

I do remember going to the following game. The flames brought one of those fans out on to the ice before puck drop and Theo presented the fan a brand new jersey as a thanks. Kind of a cool moment from the dark days!

I thought the issue with the fan's jersey was that there was no tie down?

We got a PP out of it and wanted Theo out for the PP.... I still remember the "Welcome #74, Theoren Fleury!" haha

Well that really wasn't my intention.

I don't think you would consider it bragging if you lived in Florida. Some nice things here, but there's a lot of crap too. If it wasn't for my wife's family we wouldn't be anywhere near here.

Funny how you can remember the most random crap, but never remember anything for assignments at work or tests at school LOL.

Alas, maybe those days were just so dark that the jersey incident stuck out like a sore thumb hence our memories of it.

Pretty weak list, but that's to be expected by TSN.

Especially when Doug Riseborough shredded McSorley's own jersey with his skate in the penalty box in the Saddledome, after tearing it off him in a fight, tops those all. No video though.

Sather said he sent a bill for a new jersey to the Flames the next day...just another day in the BOA when it was the best rivalry in sports.

I thought Theo said he felt silly wearing a jersey that he had signed. Probably didn't want to risk ruining her collectible too.

The tie down thing makes sense.

I also remember this game. It was amazing. Fleury was so mad from getting a stick in his face, he kept on wiping his face with his jersey asking the refs to look at it. He was screaming from the bench. And a fan threw him the jersey. I believe it wasn't 'regulation', so he wasn't allowed to wear it. That was definitely a highlight from the YOUNG GUNS era. *shudder*

The mystery of my childhood is now solved!

This episode of bloody Fleury wearing #76 made it to the Russian TV and was the first piece of the Flames I saw in my life. But for some reason they didn't show the part of him wearing #14 or I somehow missed it. I had no idea who was the player #76, so once I got the internet several years later, I spent a lot of time trying to find out who it was. However, records said that not a single Flame ever wore a #76 jersey. I was confused and ended up thinking that it was some no-name AHLer, who was called up for a game or two and wasn't even mentioned in any records. Since it is the first time ever I saw Flames on TV, I remembered this for my whole life, still occasionally wondered who was that guy wearing #76. And now the mystery is solved, it was Theoren Fleury.
