Ugly win but glad we got the 2 points. Still not sold that we turn it around yet.

This team has no energy whatsoever.

while I'm not really an Eric Francis fan, his article in the Sun today was bang on... Not a fun game to watch, win or no win... I got spoiled watching last years version of the team...

This is where the wins start folks. Team in a tailspin. No confidence at all. Win an ugly game and boom, they start winning. Seen it over and over again with a number of teams. Enjoy the ugly win and look forward to the next few games because it gets better from here.

I thought the defence was leaps and bounds better than previous games. Ramo didn't have to work too hard for his saves. It's a shame he let in a bit of a stinker but, to be fair, the shooter was left wide open in a prime spot.
The energy still isn't there on offence but this game felt like they went back to basics and tried to stop the puck from going in their own net before they thought about scoring goals. And Neuvirth played pretty well, to his credit.
If the Flames need to win ugly for a bit here to get some points and gain some confidence then so be it. I'd rather watch an ugly win like last night than another blowout loss against the Oilers.

There was that rumor before preseason started about Monahan having a back injury.. The rumor started and died pretty quickly but would explain a lot... I wonder?

Lecavalier played 4 mins and he's making 4 million bucks. They have some bad contracts on that team.

Sort of the same feel after the Oilers win, one that was also ugly and criticized. We followed it up with another useless performance vs the Avs.
To everyone complaining that CP is not positive enough about the win, I think it's because we're looking at this through the context of the whole season. The way several of our top players are looking - still not good. The way we are performing "visually" - still very ugly. Still feels like we have to play a perfect game defensively to have a shot at winning, because the one goal Ramo let in, was yet again, a soft one. Still seems like we have one or two guy that can consistently generate offense.
In a vacuum yes nice 2 points, but the overall picture? Well we play a lot more games against good teams than we do miserable ones and a team like the Stars or Kings would have smoked us with that effort last night.

Flames will be much more confident in their own zone now after last nights game I would think. That was what looked to be a defensive minded game and the players even said they wanted to be better in their own zone before the game. Now we just need to get the top 6 rearranged to what it was before with that 1-2 punch down the line.

This one was different. They tightened up defensively and allowed one goal. Much different "ugly" win and the one they needed to move past this phase IMO.

The Avs game as a result was a disappointment, and the last 10 minutes were horrific. But for the 3/4 of the game versus the Avs I didn't feel like the Flames played badly. I thought they were by far the better team, but they crumbled when the goalie let in bad ones (and when Bennett's goals were not counted). Their PK was a big factor too.
Last game, I thought they were much better defensively, which was a must. I thought the chances were limited (though Ramo made me really nervous both with the soft goal and the way he was making saves (he seemed really tight). They weren't on fire offensively, though I think the score is different if Neuvirth didn't play well. The PK was better - good shorthanded chances and the cross-ice pass wasn't getting through, which was the killer previously.

He is brtual. His most notable moments were a bad pass that led directly to a goal and lumberjack chopping his own teammate in the face.

I know Sam Ganger isn't amazing, but I fail to understand how he gets benched for Lecavalier.

I must have been pretty drunk cause I thought it was one of their better games of the season and Ramo looked good and even made some big saves.
Although this team would be worse than the Hitmen if it wasn't for Gaudreau. I mean that.

You just have to come to terms with the fact that this team sucks. We plain old suck and last year is gone.
It makes it easier.

Good game defensively. Thought Ramo looked weak on the goal. Should've been a 3-0 or 4-0 win but certain players continue to pass when they should shoot. (Tanguayitis)

The Flames are 2-2-1 in their last 5 games. That's not ideal but to me they're slowly starting to turn it around.

Backlund, Grant and Engelland had great standout games last night.
Even if Backlund didn't get a goal and an assist I would have said he had a great game on both sides of the puck. Shut down Giroux line all night.
Grants faceoffs alone garners mention, but he also played a solid and physical game.
Engelland surprised me all night with good reads all over the ice.

Anyone know what the hell happened to him??
I can't think of many players that have plummeted like he has, while still somewhat young.
