Lot of sarcastic votes for Carlyle. At least I hope they are sarcastic.

Carlyle is a way better coach than the Toronto media would like you to believe.

Treliving tried to improve the goaltending and failed over the summer now the team is stuck with $8.3M in garbage and a 24 year with 10 games experience.
Firing Bob is not the answer right now as the team is playing much better offensively right now and actually a better possession team than last year. The defense needs work but not so much the personnel moreso the systems and that includes forwards back checking. Last season even with our D jumping in the play constantly the odd man rushes against were limited. This year the odd man rushes happen multiple times per game.
The offense has improved, the defense can improve but I am not sure about the net. I think
Brad owes it to Bob and the players to get an upgrade in the net. As crazy as it sounds the playoffs could still be in reach thanks to playing in the worst division in hockey

Would you have given up Andersson or Kylington to get Talbot, Jones or the guy Buffalo got?
The Ramo re-sign, to me, was a "well I don't want to give up future to win now, but maybe these 2 can get us through a year or 2 before Gillis is ready" ... at least thats how I read it. To me, I get it that he doesn't want to mortgage the future for a win-now goalie, but that was betting that Ramo and Hiller would play as well as they did last year, which did not seem unreasonable to me. Instead, both guys are not giving anywhere near the same goaltending.... so here we are.

I picked him only because the other options outside of "other" were longer shots. Burke has a history with him and he's won a cup. Not saying he would be my pick but I could definitely see him as a potential candidate whether Hartley gets fired mid-season or on the offseason.
That said I believe Treliving will give Hartley a lot of rope. However the team really does have to start playing a semblance of a defensive system. IF this team continues it's pace of shattering post-lockout records for defensive ineptitude I would say Hartley will not be coaching the Flames to begin the 2016/2017 season.

I dont understand the line of thinking in this. Last year Calgary had more flukey 3rd period comebacks than any other and barely squeaked into the playoffs. Hartley won because we were slated to be a bottom 5 team. Hartley methods haven't changed and we aren't getting those same miracle comebacks and our "riding the hot goalie" method isn't working when we can't find a hot goalie. Harley winning an award means absolutely nothing if you are unable to get the results the next year. There is obviously a problem with our strategies when we can't average a GAA under 4 goals per game with THREE different goaltenders put in. As much as theres been some stinkers I think a lot of things are pointing to the problem being a lot more than our goalies when were giving out almost 40 shots like yesterdays game. Hartley is no longer getting the results. You can tell team morale is down and if its decided that going forward with the same system isn't going to work you can Hartley that instant, Jack Adams winner or not.

wow. now a poll.
Bobs the problem
The goalies are the problem
The team in front of the Goalies ARE the issue and not the goalies and the coach.
Even If Kipper was in net this team would be average .

In the spirit of this thread, would trading Bob Hartley for Bruce Boudreau work? Or is there tampering involved? I think this also helps to cover the management compensation rule?
Both teams need a shake up, both teams with players who can play but just aren't for some odd reason.

Hartley shouldn't be fired. But if he was, the person I would hire is Ralph Krueger.

Let Ramo convey a plan to management, that is the only requirement for some...
Put Hartley in goal.
Two birds.

Jones yes, the others, not as much. But he ended up costing 1st round + prospect, which is a heavier price than just one of Andersson or Kylington.
To me Jones is a guy who you can rely on in net, not elite, but solid and dependable, a guy who I would expect to be top 15-20 for a number of years.
Jones had a more consistent body of work at every level he played, and was primed for a breakout.
Also, it would mean I wouldn't have to get my fiancee a San Jose Sharks jersey
(she is a Jones fan back to his time with the Calgary Hitmen)
As for the firing/hiring - I think it is too knee-jerk right now, especially since whoever gets hired gets stuck with this roster that is underperforming. If I had to guy for a guy with NHL experience, I would say John Stevens.

LOL
and fair enough... I actually thought Hiller was supposed to be consistant but not spectacular. But that sure didn't work out...

I had interest in Lehner but not at the price Buffalo paid. I wanted nothing to do with Talbot at the rumored price or what Edmonton paid. I wouldn't have minded Lack at what the Canes paid but doubtful Vancouver trades him in the division.
I know Brad tried and signed Ramo as backup but his plan has failed. I hope he is able to get a new goalie similar to what the Wild did last year as I do not see the team being successful with the current group. I also don't care too much if Ortio is traded or waived to make this deal happen. The future in net is Gillies who is still 2-3 years away
