Dilana has completely derailed her self. fine with me

I think Magni would be the preferred option. however I don't think he wins. he doesn't seem as tight with the band, Gilby was harsh on his songwriting, and he doesn't do the other 'crap' (photoshoots etc) well. I think he's a great front man though and would be good for their band

so I think it's between Lukas and Tobi. I think Tobi is actually the weakest of the last 5 or 6, but the band seems to like the youthful party energy he brings to the role

It is kind of cool that the finalists are an Australian, an Icelander, a South African, and a Canadian.

Toby will probably win in the end. Magni's got a great voice, but his performances are so boring.

From what I heard of Rise Electric's music, it was an awesome band with some very unique, bright and modern yet retro 80s dark gothic rock influences and killer guitar riffs.

The inside word at Pulse Studios where Supernova (aka Suave Porn, Raven Soup, Neuvo Rasp, and my favorite - Van Poseur) is recording and producing is that Lukas has already been slated as winner.

Personally, Magni has the voice but lacks the stage charisma, Toby sings everything too bright and happy (Mr. Brightside is a sarcastic angst song about bitter jealously but he sung it like a cheering anthem), Dilana is simply awful, a sort of 10 pack a day dirty bar singer who can't write a lyric to save her life.

Lukas is cool since he has great unique music and talent (I wish he would stop mumbling though and he still needs to open up instead of freaking out at his own voice and growling when he starts to warble)...and if he wins that means that Rockstar would have picked TWO homeless Canadians in a row and that's wicked.

And I just realized there are no American contestants left! It's a Canadian, Australian, South African, and Icelander. Awesome!

I wish I could find a tab for Headspin, I really want to know how to play that bright guitar riff that kicks in during the second part that Raphael plays on the show.

I don't really like any of the finalists, to be truthful, so for me, it's a matter of choosing the one that irritates me the least. That would be Toby. He's Australian, he's got that accent, that is more than enough to get my vote. He also needs to lose the shirt again, or run around the house naked again. That was good TV!

But I remember last year they said the same thing about Mig.

Kind of funny how it played out. At the beginning I would have placed a good amount of money on Dilana winning but she has fallen away from being the best. Lukas was also the best at the beginning but same there he has fallen a little, not as much as Dilana has though. Toby came out of nowhere and has become a front runner. Until about a month ago he was just another person to go through but he has really stepped it up. Magni has always been good hinting on great but never the best.

My picks are
1. Toby
2. Lukas
3. Magni
4. Dilana

I don't understand.....isn't the show live? With 4 people left? I find it hard to believe that the band has already made up it's mind.

It's still their band. They get the final say and that might be the reason Storm was let go last night... they knew Dilana wouldnt' make it and likely everyone else knows too. The band will likely have an image they want to go with and after so many weeks, knows already who will best fit their style.

I think it's Toby's to lose at this point. Lukas could pull it off though if he goes to the same level he was at 3 or 4 weeks ago. I don't see a hope for Magni or Dilana.

Doesn't really matter who wins or loses if the top two are Toby and Lukas since their world tour will bring along the house band, dave, and probably the 2nd runner up anyway according to what they said.

I just hope Dilana doesn't become that second person to tour with the house band.

BTW, the house band, OB HOUSE are way more talented and complete than Supernova / Van Poseur. Gilby is a rhythm guitarist who was only on a crappy Guns N' Roses album. Gilby is not a lead guitarist, they need a lead.

Didn't he only tour with GNR? He played with Heart too!

So, it is Lukas, Toby, Dilana and Magni left on the show. Only two more tapings! Who will it be? Wow. Now that The Panic Channel is going out with Supernova, I all of a sudden have an invested interest. HAHAHA. NOW they tell me! Well, I don't have a say either way, so I guess it won't hurt for me to give my thoughts, but I'll wait on that. At this point I'd rather watch the show on Sunday (Tuesday) and see what the final four bring us before I make my final assessment. They all have strengths and weaknesses. Toby has a great voice that is solid, but he doesn't have the edge factor I would like to see. Lukas has a lot of edge, but vocally, I am not sure I would love hearing him for a whole two hour show. Magni is also way solid as a singer, but I worry about his command of the stage in terms of staying compelling for a whole set. Dilana has the voice and the edge down, but I worry that she lets the random temporary stuff effect her too much. Sure, she went through a tough time, but all entertainers do. She seems a little on 'tilt' these days. If she is going to let what people say effect her so deeply, I will definitely recommend that she doesn't start her own blog like this one! HAHAHAHA.
That's Dave Navarro's take from his blog:

I was talking with a Canadian band that worked with Gilby in Austin. They said he didn't know what was going on. They didn't get along with him I guess. That said, he seems like the most normal guy in Supernova.

Wow.. I can't believe the support for Lukas.. Personally I think he's just awful. I'm getting really bored of how he changes every song to be slow and brooding. I think he's just a bad singer on top of that, has little to no range.. Grunge died in the 90's let it go..
I suppose it doesn't really matter, I don't listen to a lot of mainstream music (mostly punk) so I'm pretty sure I won't be into suprnova anyways.. (Despite my name I hate the last 2 AFI albums )

I would rank Toby as the one that will win.

My rankings

1 Toby
2 Magni - will make the decision really tough.

3 Lukas - good singer but has a bad attitude.
4 Dilana - Has to many issues, Band won't risk their future on her

Apparantely, you have no idea what grunge is either because Lukas hates grunge and Nirvana, etc. Lukas' voice can be tedious but he's got great musical talent and a unique style that I would describe as more 80s gothic ala the Cure.

I understand and agree, but Hack's post made it sound like the winner has already been chosen, even if in secret.

I just doubt that's true.

I watch this show and can't help but think of the line in Austin Powers where Dr. Evil claims theres nothing quite as pathetic as an aging hipster. I hope they never come anywhere near where I live because I don't know if I'll be able to cook up a good enough excuse to my wife why we're not going.

You're right I have no idea what grunge is.. Just because he hates it doesn't mean he wouldn't fit right in singing in one of those terrible bands. His fake depressed emo persona irritates me to no end. I dunno, he just changes every song to be slower and grungier, which I don't find amazing by any means. Like I said earlier though, I've been mainly into punk for the last 13 years or so, so maybe I don't know enough about what people want to hear from a rock band these days..

And to be fair, Lukas sounds nothing like the cure..

Just a note, I went and seen the matadors last night, if anyone gets a chance to see them in and around Calgary in the next few days I highly recommend it..

I am not a big fan of reality music TV (Idol is the biggest crapfest on TV), however, my wife started watching Rockstar, and I got hooked as well.

My comment, is that the final four are hardly perfect - all of them have some interesting strengths, but some glaring weaknesses. Magni is solid, but doesn't seem to want to be 'crazy'. Toby is entertaining, original and can write, but seems a little to bubble gum to me. Lukas has he most intensity of the guys, an original voice, but seems to mumble, and is a one trick pony. And Dilanna is a dynamo with I think the best voice of them all, but as mentioned in a few places, seems ready to come undone at any minute and cannot write music.

Maybe if they could morph all four into one, they would truly have a rock star. Too bad about Storm, but I think, like many of the performers that left in front of her, the publicity she got will set her career on fire. She might be better off just being Storm Large.

Anyway, for me, the only one's I can see winning are Toby and Magni (and the jury is out on whether I would buy the CD or not)
