Right, because when I put (if the deal were right) I clearly meant mortgaging the future in blockbuster trades.

When you are so spiteful toward one player it skews your take on entire discussions, it is a relevant point.

Once again: We need to shore up play in our own end - and - could use a top six goal scoring winger (regardless of your longstanding hate for Iginla).

All those guys would either cost too much to acquire, have heavy cap hits, or too much term. Acquiring Iginla wouldn't have those problems as much. If iginla could be acquired in a hockey trade where the flames didn't have to give up much in terms of future assets... It could be a good trade.

If there is a guy who will almost certainly score 30 goals this year and likely next year as well, has 2 years remaining on a contract for less than $6 million AAV, and can be acquired without giving up first or second round picks/high end prospects... Then he would be a good option too. Not saying iginla could be acquired in a hockey trade for sure but I think there's a better chance of that with him than other guys.

This is the third post in this thread where you do nothing to address any of the points I have made in favour of attacking me personally.

Might I suggest it is you who has a skewed perspective due to spite?

This is such a pointless fantasy. Iginla signed in Colorado to (a) find stability and not jump from team to team, otherwise he'd just sign 1 year deals with a contender, and (b) try to win a Cup, and we are threatened to miss the playoffs forget win a Cup. Both reasons are big reasons this is not going to happen.

A proposed idea to bring back Iginla makes absolutely no logical sense. The fit is bad for all 3 sides (Iginla, Flames, Avs) Wait a few years and you'll see Iginla in some alumni game if you want to see him in a Flames jersey.

McKenzie:
  • There are teams that have expressed interest in Nikitin
  • Oilers may have to retain salary
  • Once he gets back up to speed there are teams, including the Colorado Avalanche, that have interest in him

If there is interest in Nikitin, the Flames should be able to move any of their defencemen.

Could this mean they take a long look at Russell? With their start and their desire to make the play offs, they'll probably want to plug that gap with a rental. Russell ticks all the boxes.

They would probably look at a longer term player on d. They loaded up on picks this past draft so they have valuable trade chips if they want to target a young d

This is not a rumour or anything, just a question.

Would you trade Mikael Backlund to Anaheim for Fredrik Andersen?

Absolutely. One of Ramo or Hiller would have to be sent down to the farm and Ortio sent through waivers and possibly ECHL.

That's the team I'd be targeting if i was Brad, they probably will want to move one of Gibson or Andersen, its just whether they wait until next year to do so.

Ortio, Poirier/Klimchuk, Andersson/Hickey/Kyington for Anderson. Asking price may be too high but I think that is what it would take.

I wish. It would be great to get Andersen on this team.

1-5-2, but a 2.05 GAA and .935 SV%..... we'd have a winning record right now with those stats in net.
