For me, it is nothing personal against Harper. I am simply a social liberal and am glad that we will once again have a government that will try to implement more socially liberal policies. I am really happy to see some change.
Stephen Harper is no doubt well-meaning and hard working, therefore I can respect him as a person. I just don't see the world how he sees it. I also think he started out strong but is an example of what happens when a party is in power for too long. . Sometimes change for the sake of change is needed and it's the same reason that I accepted him when he first came to power.

It's funny because I reckon not much has really changed in the grand scheme of things over the last 10 years. Just like not much will likely change in the next 10. Federal politics is kind of a big let down like that. All hype.

Yeah. Harper was totally the only victim of hyperbole.

I think Harper did fine as PM. His party had some things in their platform that I fundamentally disagree with but to say he was a bad PM is a bit of an overstatement. Frankly, since I've been old enough to understand what is going on, I don't think any prime minister was remarkable in any way.
It's like Trudeau said in his victory speech. We should thank Harper for serving the country for +10 years. That's a long time in a very hard job.

I'm sure people on this board would be happy if you paid their tax for them since you have no issue paying higher taxes.

What were his conservative social policies may I ask? He didn't revoke the rights for gays to marry, nor did he debate abortion. Pot legalization I don't think is "liberal" or "conservative" policy. Just a policy.

His stance on refugees and Bill C-51 come to mind.
The fact that a large chunk of his campaign was based around islamophobia didn't help him either.
