You're talking about Ryan Kesler, right?

Yeah they're loaded with assets. Their goaltending, their young defence, prospects, versatile middle 6 forwards. But no sense for them to send any of those riches our way

Any chance the Flames try to trade for James Reimer? He looked excellent last night against one of the best top lines in hockey, and we all know that Burke is a fan of his.

They'd be asking for futures we shouldn't be giving up. They won't want veterans

Reimer is really not an upgrade on Hiller or Ramo. If you trade for him you are only doing it to shake things up.

Reimer has his moments, but isn't more than a decent back-up. I would pass.

Flames would also have to move a goaltender in this deal. Carrying 4 is obviously not an option. Just as a side note, deals with the Leafs have been stinkers in the past...not that it matters in future deals...

Never said he didn't score, I just said he's very similar to Brett Hull at this stage of his career. Hull still scored, he just did it off the one timer, and waited in the slot. They are very similar. Both score goals, but do very little else to help the team.

People keep talking like this is a bad thing... "He's only good for scoring goals." That's not exactly an easy thing to do in the NHL these days. I'll take a guy who can shoot the puck and score any day.
He plays a smart game and still wins battles along the boards.... He will also drop the gloves to defend a team mate. You can bet on it that iggy would drop a guy for going after Johnny if they were on a line together. Plus he would be a great fit with Gaudreau... Johnny often gains the zone with speed, creates time and space with his hands, draws in defenders and then makes beautiful passes to whichever guy comes in late to the high slot... Can't think of many guys in the league better suited to being the shooter in that scenario than iginla. Think how many times Johnny made that play to wideman last year... And that's a big reason why wideman was so productive.

Like Yakupov....really disappointed me no one stepped in when Yakupov was chopping away at Gaudreau. Yah, yah, close game, don't want to take a penalty....in that case I'd be happy killing a penalty.

This is more what we should be looking at. Ducks are struggling and have good assets. Whether you can get them or not is another question but this is more in line with how we should be thinking.
No to Eriksson.

No kidding. Someone should have at least had his number for later revenge. We shouldn't let anyone take that many whacks at one of our players. Those penalties are easy to kill and rally the team.

How does that address losing by scores of 4-1, 4-0,6-2 etc.
Calgary can't STOP goals which is why they keep losing.
How does second line Jerome iginla address dropping 3 two-goal leads against the oilers in one game?

The problems you're talking about are solved by improved goaltending (either through trade or internally) and improved team defence. You're focusing on different issues than I am. I'm not saying iginla solves either of those problems. Iginla would help with depth scoring, powerplay, and grit in the top six forwards. All things that I think the team could use.
Not saying the issues you mentioned aren't as important... In fact, they are the most important... but if iginla could be acquired in a hockey deal for someone like wideman for example I think it would be a good trade.
People can say this team shouldn't make a trade that's short term... But I think iginla will be productive for the entirety of his current contract and possibly could still be productive on one year deals after that... He hasn't shown any signs of dropping his production so far and he is widely regarded as one of the most fit players in the league. If he is productive for he next 2-3 seasons... Doesn't that fit into the window of when this team should be competitive? I'm not prepared to give up on this season at all.

You don't avoid solving one problem because there are two.
Your hate for Iginla is well doccumented. Remove his name from the equation and you're scoffing at adding much needed goal scoring because we're additionally allowing more goals than we should right now.
Doesn't need to be Iginla, but acting like adding a primary scorer (if the deal were right) is a bad idea just because we need to shore things up our own end is short sighted.
But that would be because (as usual) your key interest here is slagging Iginla over what's actually being discussed.

I will ignore th ad hominem and play your little game.
Should Calgary be expending assets for Phil kessel ? He scores goals too.
Maybe Rick Nash? Marian gaborik? Cammalleri?
Do any of those guys make sense?
