Pretty important game tonight and the Flames have to go on at least a 3 game winning streak to even have a chance at the playoffs imo or at least 5 of next 6.
That stat will be broken this year regardless, I can't see Anaheim missing the post season. Helps that the pacific is a weak division as well, one hot streak and you can rocket up the standings quickly.

So true. These stats are mostly from the old conference playoff format not the new divisional playoff format.
A bunch of people are gonna be pissed off when the team in 3rd in the Pacific has fewer points than teams that missed the playoffs.
You mean like 2009-10, when Montreal and Philadelphia both made the Eastern Conference finals with 88 points, and Calgary missed the playoffs with 90?
If the Flames end up on the winning side of that for a change, I'll take it.

That stat is 100% useless under the new conference arrangement.
You just gotta have faith.
It's also useless because it's only taking into account the first 13 games. Why isolate only the first 13? Plenty of teams have come from >10pts back at various points in the season to make the playoffs. Wild last season are a good example. Every season at least a couple times come rocketing from near the bottom of the conference to snag a playoff spot by season's end. One long winning/losing stream can change everything.
The NHL sure has some weird obsession with stats to start the season (fastest to 50 goals to start the season, longest winning streak to start a season, etc).

We lost 9 straight with 8 in regulation in December and made up that ground in half a season.
So whats the difference if it happens in October or December? Ebbs and flows. Hopefully our rut is just at the start this time. Most playoff teams will have theirs at some point, so we just have to take advantage when that happens. But I'd rather have to make up that ground in 5 months than in 3 months this time.
Edit: But as pointed out above, it's all moot if the goaltending doesn't improve significantly and soon.
