Even though the Flames have lost 2 out of the 3 games Brodie has been back I think its fairly obvious how much more dangerous this team is with him in the line up. It changes the entire dynamic of the team. Pretty cool.

Flames a single point behind the Oilers. For all the pathetic talking up the media is doing with that team daily, it's pretty sobering got Oiler fans and those here thinking of jumping the ship, considering how the Flames have looked good in 3 total games out of 12 this year.
|
Actually the team has looked good in more than 3 of 12. Probably 5 or 6 - Vancouver, Detroit, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Oilers at least, but the goalies have looked good in 0, average in 1-2, and below average in all the rest of them.

I like Jooris' game when he keeps things simple because he has the size and speed and even surprises with a decent shot, but tonight, like the other night in Ottawa, he tried to get fancy and stick handle around a guy which led to a rush the other way for the Oilers while everyone's momentum was the other way. Didn't cost the Flames tonight but it did against Ottawa.
I hope he gets back to the simple game as he simply doesn't have the talent to do those things.

I'm relieved we won, but this thing with allowing four goals or more has got to stop. It's so effortless for the other team to light us up it's embarrassing. Other than that the team is starting to shape up.

Not a fan of this "doesn't have talent, so shouldn't try to do things talented people do" attitude. Jooris is in his third year pro, second in the NHL. If that move starts working better for him as he adjusts, it's a better play then a simple dump in. You need to make mistakes to learn what works and what doesn't at this level.

That's the same kind of mentality that kept glencross from getting an nhl contract. Start thinking like your more talented then you are and you'll stop doing the things that make you successful in the nhl. Plain and simple.

That might be the case for veteran players, but for id say at least the first 3 years it's basically the attitude and approach that you should have. Push as hard as you can and test your limits but be honest with yourself and don't fall under the dunning kruger effect. Also he's young and trying to get better.

I like how Hartley is limiting Hamilton's minutes after struggling. He's slowly being more comfortable.

Was relieved we won. Same problems still exist. Treliving needs to step in and make some adjustments and Billy Bean some of Hartley's guys.

By all accounts Bennett > McDavid. They put it up tonight in black and white that Bennet has out played and out scored Mcdavid all throughout their junior careers. I get thatt Mcdavid has better numbers outside of facing Sam Bennet blag blah blah blah.... But dose it not tell more of a story that when head to head Bennet outplays Mcdavid ?
Any game Sam has faced Connor in he has outplayed and out scored? The hype about Bennet stopped after he couldn't do a pullup and because he missed most of last year.
|
Imagine you had the opportunity to have both on your roster? You simply just couldn't pass that gift up

We need our young D to step it up. Russell, Wideman and Engelland need to go. That being said, holy crap the Pacific division sucks. We're going to stumble into a playoff spot by accident.

Engelland has been more than fine as a #6 defenseman.

very small sample size obviously, but since Brodie's return, Hamilton has 1G, 1A, 2P +2 in 3 games.

I agree, however, he's 33 and will be nearing a pylon in the future. Same with Wideman. We quickly will need to fill in the gaps.

Every time I hear him say "Nuge" I keep expecting to see Ted Nugent running on the ice dressed in camo carrying a cross bow.
Love him or hate him, there is only one "Nuge."
