To be fair, the Flames did precisely the same thing with Byron AND Raymond. Both were on waivers.
And no - the Flames don't need more marginal NHLers. They need more GOOD NHLers.

It's a lot easier to coach and play when you have zero expectations.
It's up to the coach to prepare the team between games. Hartley has not done that.

remember we lost 8 games IN A ROW last year. It just looks bad now cause it's the start of the year.
