Somehow, Russell and Wideman both have 100% offensive zone starts at even strength
and yet the puck is always in the Flames end when they are on the ice.

Why? Because a lucky blind cross ice pass against the worst D pairing in the league worked out? Yes, Byron was the answer the Flames let go for free. It was all Paul stone hands Byron that really was the answer for the Flames...

hartley's starting to piss me off too. last year, he benched wideman in game frigin 2.
we're hitting a dozen games, and the pairing is downright atrocious, yet let's just keep going back to that well. Do something, frigin adjust.

We gotta trade Russell like now before his value drops any further.

.870 even strength save %. ####ing brutal. If we have even an average goalie, we're likely .500 win %.

Your argument there doesn't hold water IMO

I could be off-base, but I don't think your accounting for the pace of the game. Russell's a pretty good shot blocker, and knows how to time his blocks. He went down at the exact moment the puck came off the stick, collapsing Ortio's immediate sightline.
If you can shift your perspective and focus and react accordingly in the space of time that a puck leaves the stick of an NHL caliber shooter and arrives in your personal vicinity then we need you to donate your body to science. The future superhuman race will thank you.

Yep, you got me. I'm basing this off of one goal, not the energy that Byron has brought tonight.
Notice how ineffectual the Flames third and fourth lines are? Yeah...

I swear to Christ that Hartley is trying to get fired. That is the only reason you continue to play Wideman and Russell together, Wideman on the PP and Raymond at all.
