Why Frolik is so quiet, I do not get it.

Good period. Plenty of chances. Better defending than usual. Goaltending was good. That goal was weak but forgivable. Confidence in goaltending is non existent in us fans right now. It'll be tough to not flip a switch on every goal.

Points wise, whole team is in a funk. As far as a complete game goes, Frolik is one of the Flames best most consistent FW's night in and night out. So many smart little things. And now that he's with Gaudreau they're definitely going un noticed because Johnny does Johnny things.

Frolik has been one of the more consistent guys on this team. His points will come I think.

Raymond needs to shoot that puck early in the first..

Russell needs to skate that puck on the PP while all 4 of the other players are STANDING at the habs blueline or a player needs to double back and give him an outlet... Don't just throw it away..

Only a handful of players are playing g intelligent hockey. The rest are just passengers pretending to be passionate.

I'm not advocating tanking but you're just kidding yourself if you'd rather have a meaningless 1st round playoff win over Vancouver in 2014 vs Connor mcjesus for his entire career

What is Engelland doing better than Smid? Engelland hasn't done anything bad this game. I just think Smid brings more than Engelland.

You are sorely wrong in thinking it was meaningless. Also, there is a lottery.

Engelland is dependable enough to not do brain-dead plays. In fact I trust him more than Russell atm. But I still feel like Smid hits harder and shows more energy, which this team sorely needs more of.

Overall period so far.

Star: Gaudreau
Goat: Ortio. Though he looked much more composed after the weak goal. Maybe Raymond is one. I wish he could have a good shot with that speed of his.
HM: Monahan. Much more composed out there tonight and created chances.

This team is so much more composed with Brodie there. There is a lot of good to take from that period, and it reminds me of last year right when they were about to break out of the 8 game slump. Granted, they were rather poor most of this current slump, but glimpses of the old Flames are now there.

Of course, this all depends on solid goaltending for the rest of the game.

It was a great experience but I don't think beating a weak canucks and then getting clobbered by the ducks is better than getting a generational talent. Flame away
