Moncton Golden Flames. I grew up in Moncton, and I am a Flames fan because of the Golden Flames, an AHL farm team once shared by Calgary & Boston back in the mid eighties. A lot of players came thru Moncton on their way to Calgary in the 3 seasons the club was in Moncton.

FlamesAddiction is a play on the name of one of my favourite bands (Jane's Addiction).

Roulette Number. I won on it twice in a row. I haven't played roulette since.

Well, my first name is James. I'd tell you my last name, but I want to keep some anonymity.

It's also oddly appropriate for a Flames site.
That brings back memories of undergrad. I used to love Furnace Face.

My nickname is, well.... not very creative. I didn't give it too much thought when I joined. Perhaps a bigger problem is that my wife and I will probably leave Iowa next spring, perhaps moving to Philadelphia. Do I change it? Keep this one? is Philly_Flames_Fan taken??!? I don't know--maybe I should do something completely different.

Welp, before Internet Message Boards, there were BBSs. Back on my C64, I'd visit all the Ivory's and take the any viewpoint opposite the overriding concensus in any political discussion. And tell everyone how awesome Mel Bridgeman was. So obviously, a plurality of meaning.

I started using the name in '86, so I've been using this monicker for 20 years!!

BTW - Big Furnaceface fan here as well. I've got "This Will Make You Happy" on the iPod and have been meaning to add "Just Buy It" and "Unsafe@AnySpeed" (they are on cassette, so they take a while to convert to MP3; can't find them on the 'Net to download).

First time I posted something I was in a real rush, had to go out, so I registered really quickly, picked this name, and said my piece. Then I went. And its awesome because everone thinks it refers to my need to ****.

I love that song for some reason - hard not to sing along...

"Birds fall from the window ledge above mine.
Then they flap their wings at the last second.

You see birds fall from the window ledge above mine.
Then they flap their wings at the last second.
I can see their dead weight
Just dropping like stones
Or small loaves of bread
Past my window all the time.
But unless I get up,
Walk across the room
And peer down below,
I don't see their last second curves
Toward a horizontal flight.
All these birds just falling from the ledge like stones.

Now due to a construct in my mind
That makes their falling and their flight
Symbolic of my entire existence,
It becomes important for me
To get up and see
Their last second curves toward flight.
It's almost as if my life will fall
Unless I see their ascent.

Mr. Mastodon Farm,
Mr. Mastodon Farm,
Cuts swatches out of all material.
Mr. Mastodon Farm,
Mr. Mastodon Farm,
Cuts swatches out of all material.

Birds fall from the window ledge above mine.
Then they flap their wings at the last second.
I said birds fall from the window ledge above mine.
Then they flap their wings at the last second.
But unless I get up,
Walk across the room
And peer down below,
I won't see their last second curves
Toward a, a horizontal flight.
All these birds just falling from the ledge like stones.

Now due to a construct in my mind
That makes their falling and their flight
Symbolic of my entire existence,
It becomes important for me
To get up and see
Their last second curves toward flight.

I'm from Winnipeg and moved to Calgary when the Jets left for Phoenix. I absolutely despise the Oilers so I cheer for Calgary because the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
