Doubt it's fake at all.
On somewhat of a tangent the whole 'allergen-free zone' drives me up the wall. As a kid I had insanely restricting allergies. Still went out for Halloween. Mom went through my bag when I got home and took out whatever I couldn't have (which was about 80% of the bag, and filled it up with a bunch of stuff she bought that I could have so I didn't feel left out. So if your kid is allergic to peanuts/gluten/sunshine whatever, your options are that, or don't take them out. Not get the whole neighbourhood to cater to your kids real (or made-up) allergies.
I don't normally hand out candy but this year I think I'm going to decorate the house and hand out gluten covered peanuts.

I'm not gonna ruin Halloween for all the other kids by giving them terrible, lame candy just because your kid can't eat peanuts. If your kid has allergies, maybe you could, I don't know, go through their bag before they eat anything?

I don't have a problem with the first one as I mentioned. Especially because the parents were forthright enough to use their names and phone number. As discussed there are probably a lot of scenarios where a little common sense can make things fun for the kid and the neighbourhood.
That second one would piss me off though. First of all, eliminating gluten, dairy AND peanuts doesn't leave much left. Secondly, people have different budgets and likes when it comes to buying Halloween candy. Restricting them to certain choices for one kid is quite a bit of an ask. Lastly, this parent wasn't as forthright as the first, and didn't include their name and number. If you can't stand up for what you desire, why should anyone listen to you?

I bit into one of those when I was a kid and my mouth became glued shut. I forced it open and it ripped out one of my teeth from the root. I have steered clear of those things ever since.

I'm giving out chips this year.
Yeah they are bad for you, but in my opinion, not as bad as sugary candies and chocolate.

My daughter remembers houses by what they give out. Up behind us are 4-5 houses that give out cans of pop.
In our old neighbourhood in McKenzie Towne, the houses would keep beer to give out to the dads as they took the kids around.
Good times.

I tried that last year (maybe two years ago?). Not one parent came up to the door with the kids. Always stayed way back or at the end of the driveway. I had a lot of leftover beer for a few hours.

I get it, but at this point, you buy your own candy for your kid, they can still trick or treat and collect a bag of Candy but when you get home you take their bag away and give them a bag that you as a parent put together.
I can just imagine giving out the lame candy on that list, and getting the thanks of one child and my house completely egged by the other 50 for being a lame 0.
As for the first note, the evil in me keeps saying that if I got that note about not scaring their kid with my decorations, that my response would be "Game on".
As a parent if someone threw a bag of carrot sticks in my kids bag, I would probably toss them, not because they're healthy but because they're an un sealed item.

Has there ever been real cases of Halloween candy that was tampered with?
And even if there was I'm pretty sure that the risk of getting hit by cars on Halloween is at least 1000 times greater.
