dudes, we're only 6 points out of a playoff spot and the teams we need to pass are Edmonton, San Jose and Phoenix. 72 games to make up 6 points. Against those losers I'll be shocked if we don't make the playoffs.

Amazing how Wideman doesn't get more flack for being burned multiple times.

Our defence as a 5 man unit is absolutely atrocious. Never mind the blue line, but the forwards should also be accountable as well.

I think the general panic is how poorly the team has played versus last seasons expectations. I am hoping we are in our slump now and it goes better from here on out.
Hope the team can beat Montreal.
So far it's not been fun to watch.

Very winnable game, but every mistake ends up in the back of our net. Some thoughts:
- Backlund has been invisible offensively. He keeps losing the puck in the offensive zone. That second Sens goal he was caught watching and standing still.
- Bollig should not be playing. 2 straight games with horrible and useless penalties.
- Why is Raymond on the powerplay? Why doesn't Frolik get any PP time? Our man advantage has been abysmal.
- Hiller hasn't been good all year...everytime there's a shot on the Flames net it gets scary. Hopefully Ortio can provide us with average goaltending.

I feel like most of the skaters have been out of the slump since the third period of the Capitals game. A few still have to shore a few things up - Hamilton, Russell, Backlund but really right now this a team that just needs some sharp goaltending. They only really played "bad" for the Oilers game and the first two periods of the Capitals game.

Yup posters talk about the Ryan to Hiller collsion penalty, but the biggest part of that play was the way the forward easily got around Wideman.

Minus the blatant defensive end lapses that game would have been 6-2 if the goaltenders swapped teams (Hiller and Anderson)

Bennet was a stud today. Only got better as the game went on. Ive said before he just needed skilled guys to play with. Hopefully with those two lines they can have at least 2 scoring lines now.

I think this is a way better way to look at things than the pace calculations. The whole Pacific division is a tire fire this year (well, almost the whole of it).
If the Flames can play up to their potential, they could still easily make it. And they're starting to turn a corner. Visually at least.

1. Hiller can't hold the dam from bursting. Blame him if you want but the D pairing of Wideman/Russell are responsible for 3 of those goals. As a team they suck in front of their own net.
2. Gaudreau is amazing.
3. Bennett's waking up. Could be the story of the year for the Flames.
4. Some players need a wake up call: Backlund, Jooris, Bollig, Jones. Actually all four can sit in lieu of some AHL fodder, won't see much separation in talent. Might get some production out of the kids you call up though.
5. I said earlier today some consistent effort would be nice and thats all I hoped to see. It was better. Not there yet but it's better.
6. Dougie Hamilton appears to be stabling out. Could be another huge benefit for the group.
7. TJ Brodie mixes the cocktails for the Flames. Its night and day the difference the team is with him and without him. Hate that he isnt 100% and playing though.

I would agree. They just couldnt bury anything, that combined with brutal defensive end lapses and subpar goaltending = corsi dont mean crap.

Again cant argue with these points. Except i put Jooris up a tier from the others mentioned. Hes been a buzzsaw just doesnt have the points to show for it.
The one guy that has been the biggest let down up front this year is Backlund. Hes gonna play himself off this team in no time with guys like Janko goin pro next year.
