I'm not going to do the math, but I'm guessing over the last nine games, the Flames shooting percentage for the calendar year is now at a sustainable level. Now we can just go and score at a normal rate

Maybe. I look at the miserable way we've generated offense and our low shooting percent doesn't surprise me. Not so much luck if you're just taking useless shots from bad angles. Did Halak have to make a single great save?

Wow, the Sharks have had an easy schedule for their wins:
- A Kings team that was snakebitten to start the season
- A Ducks team that was and still is snakebitten to tune of a historically low-goal scoring start (6 goals in 8 games)
- A Capitals team without Ovechkin
- The Devils
- The Hurricanes

I take some solace in the fact that the much more talented Anaheim Ducks are having just as bad a start as the Flames are, and those guys are considered an elite team. It's not the end of the world yet as some fans are saying. But they'd better turn it around quickly if they want to salvage the season.

Exactly. The fact that the Flames are playing within the division for 3 guaranteed spots means we have a better shot at getting a spot, instead of the only the division winners+top 4-8 spots like seasons past. As long as we beat and have a winning record vs other teams within the Pacific we should be fine. Ducks are doing us a MASSIVE favor with their failure, but they will go on some crazy 8-2 runs and jump back in the race. No reason we can't do the same.
Obviously not a position we want to be in, but it's not as bad as it seems.
