No so much surprised, just if you want to discuss black lives matter and what Fox News is telling you about it then do that, don't just tack on the Hannity "I'm just asking questions here" thing at the end when there's zero connection between the incident and BLM.

The story also illustrates the increasing divergence between the ends of American police forces and the ends of your average American in civil society. Something about the dissociative experience of an American police officer expecting violence in every setting, and using any means necessary to impose a semblance of peace.
I read something about the increasing role of police officers in American schools, and the lack of any complementary training to that effect. There is an increasing number of violent acts by officers on students with low or no provocation. This has nothing to do with the relative level of sociological violence within the environmental setting of the particular school or community.

This was all about having an audience, the cop is not fit for purpose if he doesn't know this.

Yeah no doubt. Talk about blowing a situation up to eleven.

We had a CPS officer at LBHS all day, everyday.

He mostly played sports with us students.

Guess he was doing it wrong.

Yeah see, this rubs me the wrong way and it kinda showed in your first post too. For one, I think your taking a huge leap here, possibly racist in nature. I don't believe the movement has emboldened young colored people against the police, nor do I think the movement is wrong even if it did. As well, I'm not sure how you could infer that the movement has in the first place. I mean, I'm sure a lot of callers on Faux news might have that opinion, but I doubt that based in any facts either.

Secondly, I don't think the movement has ANYTHING to do with this example. I didn't even notice the color of the girl when I watched it. Course, it has nothing to do with what I did or did not notice, but I can't see how it has anything to do with it.

Wouldn't be the first time a teenager refused to listen to a police officer. Boy, girl. White, black. Whatever.

Yeah, we had Constable Ernie at EP Scarlett. Mostly just had a great mustache. He would routinely give presentations in class on his role and responsibilities. I think he had a background in social work as well, and would give counseling to students at risk for gangs/crime etc...

That is here. This is there.

I usual tend to defend the police in these situations but that seems clearly excessive to me. No one seemed to be in any danger, so the use of that level of force, seemed completely uncalled for.

When I was there I mostly just saw him playing solitaire on the computer and writing tickets to underage smokers on school property.

I just love the sensationalist headline "....BLACK FEMALE STUDENT"
So if it was a WHITE or HISPANIC Female student, or a male student it would be less of an issue........

They're both idiots. He shouldn't have escalated to the degree he did, and she should have stopped being a blithering little #### and moved her ass, the first time she was told, without having the police brought in.

I agree with you. I am just stating what some Americans are saying and how it looks to them. I am not a racist and I take offense to that.

I don't think this incident is directly related, but it has been suggested by more than just the fox radio hosts that the BLM movement is giving American youth an excuse to disregard what the police are doing/enforcing.

I am just curious what others in here might think about that. It is the perception of this incident considering everything that has happened in the last few months in the US.

What "some Americans are saying" is backwards. The Black Lives Matter thing is a reaction to/protest of police brutality. Police brutality isn't a reaction to Black Lives Matter.

This roid-raging fool's violent reaction to a pouting kid is only going to increase mistrust and a lack of respect for law enforcement. That is 100% on the officer who body slammed the girl in her desk and threw her across the classroom. You can't blame what he did on a hashtag or protest.

Send this child-abusing ####### to jail and that could potentially increase trust and respect for the system. If he gets a slap on the wrist (or nothing) and reinstated as though he did nothing wrong, every kid who witnessed this will have a lower opinion and less respect for law enforcement.

Yeah I read he's been investigated a couple of times in the past, I have one question for the people who say "but she wasn't hurt"...what if she was? the way he threw her around it's lucky for him she didn't break something (like her neck)

Jesus H people, there's a reason police have handcuffs.. I'll let you figure it out |

There are so many options to remove her without any violence, I don't get how anyone could justify a 16yr old being roughed up like that. Its insane. As a doorman I once saw a guy get thrown on the ground in a fight outside our bar, he went to hospital with a fracture to his neck.
Its a tiny 16yr old kid for fsakes.
