NFL Pick'em 2006 - Sign up now
As the defending champion of our CalgaryPuck pick'em pool, I've set up the 2006 version on Yahoo with the same rules as last season.
Basically, you pick the winner of each game straight up (not against the spread) and assign a confidence rating based on how sure you are. The deadline is 5 minutes prior to the start of the first game of each week (i.e. deadline for week one is Thursday, September 7th at 8:25 EST). The winner will be the person with the most points at the end of the season -- you'll need to make picks each week, but you can do so in advance if you wish.
We only have room for 50 people, so sign up now:

Yeah, I know. I'm a 49ers fan.
But still, the Browns are one team I think karma needs to bless, but for some reason the football gods have decided to curse them.
Even this season, they have singed, what, 8 different centres? I tell ya, if I had to choose between wearing a Red shirt in a Star Trek episode or sign as a centre with the Browns, I may be asking if they have that red shirt in an XL.

For all the things that have gone wrong around the Cleveland Browns lately -- specifically, all the uncertainty surrounding their center position since LeCharles Bentley sustained a season-ending knee injury on the first day of training camp -- there are still some positives worth noting. One is the growing chemistry between quarterback Charlie Frye and wide receiver Braylon Edwards. The second-year players spent an entire offseason getting to know each other in Cleveland, and there's a good chance that time together will pay major dividends during the regular season.

I'll root for the Browns, but I still think they are a long ways away from being a playoff team.

Just a reminder for those who have signed up -- your picks for the week are due THURSDAY night, 5 minutes prior to the start of the 8:30 p.m (EST) / 6:30 p.m. (MST) Steelers-Dolphins game.
If you haven't signed up, there are still more spots left and it's not too late to join:

Tough first week if you ask me. I didn't feel 100% confident of any of my picks.
I'm hoping to finally reel Aaron in on this!

Batch doesn't seem to be holding the Steelers back too much.

My perfect season is already shot. Didn't think the Steelers could beat the Fish with Batch at the controls (if I had done by research, I would have known Batch won two games for PITT last year).

Cool, I'm in second place, ahead of Dis and AaronSJ. Can I just retire from the pool now?

Bump.
Get your picks in for week 3. Week 2 was easy; most had over 110 points. This week should be tougher to get right.
With byes this week, the most you can get is 105 points.
