Remember when we could score goals? Seems like so long ago but it was good time. At this point we need a Minnesota-esque miracle run to make the playoffs. Having Brodie back will help but will not tamponade the bleeding.

We need a goaltender type trade for that to happen.

But who then will take over the "fake tough guy" routine from Bollig?
Bollig hasn't made a positive contribution in quite some time. Probably dating back to last season. Like literally can't remember when he did something positive. Even a big hit would be nice. dumb penalty after dumb penalty and then picks fights and gets his lunch handed to him almost every time.
He is more embarrassing than Zack Stortini.

There's been spurts the past couple games where they were controlling play and actually looked pretty good. I think a combined score of 8-1 is a bit misleading, but there has been some ugly hockey, usually when they get down a goal or two. Then the house of cards comes down.
The one saving grace is that they're not playing their best and losing, they're playing pretty badly at times and losing. They can, and will, be better. The question is, when? The season is slowly fading away.
And they look slow. I want my fast, motivated Flames back.

Who knew that TJ Brodie meant so much to this team?

There are so many more problems than just Brodie being injured.

The biggest thing to me is that the team just isn't getting the goaltending it needs. Last year they'd ride Ramo or Hiller or Ortio on hot streaks then when they'd pull up lame the another one would step up. The team is playing to not make mistakes because they know they will pay for it. They're not playing aggressive or taking good risks.
Gio stepped up against Detroit by being aggressive and I'd say willed them to pull it off but they just seem fragile and tentative to me. If the stretch pass isn't working they don't seem wiling to go with something else and opposing teams are feeding off them.
Last year they could rally against everyone who said they can't play the way they did, and this year they're not rallying against the same people who say they can't keep it going. The team is missing it's mojo.

The biggest problem now is that teams seem to be figuring out that no one besides Gaudreau is a threat so they can focus on him while the rest of team fans on pucks or shoots them at shins.

Time for the boys to get a reminder that their job isn't secure. Start the AHL callup thingy again. Whatever the reason they had to do it last year with injuries etc. it kept them on their toes and added energy. If those steady vets aren't doing what you need / supporting the young guns / adding some physical play / then do the old change of scenery trade and add a shakeup that way.
Almost has that country club feeling back and with none of them with the actual reps to be living off.

Yep. It's pretty clear that the reason the Flames have started terribly is because of Bollig and his 8 minutes of ice time per game. Had Hartley given that 8 minutes to a guy from the Heat this team would be 7-2.

It's actually quite sad watching this offence try to score goals.
Any team with the likes of Colborne/Raymond/Ferland/Backlund/Bouma on the 2nd line is just not a good team.
It's as simple as that really.

Extremely disappointing that this team is so unwatchable right now. It's almost like the first half of 2013/14.

Pretty much. Bouma had a career season last year. He's not likely to score ten goals in a season again. Colborne has size and skills but right now he's a 3rd line talent. Raymond is what he is. Backhand is a bottom six forward always has been. Ferland IMO is a fringe NHL player at the moment. Is it any wonder this team can't get secondary scoring when these guys have taken turns in the top six?

It's so frustrating because, especially in these 2 games, I feel like they're not even being outplayed. They just can't bury chances to save their life, and the opposition cashes in on theirs.
So snakebit up front, poor goaltending, soft defence...ugh.
