I hope the Flames management keep their eyes firmly fixed on the rebuild long term.
The team was not a Stanley Cup contender last year despite getting every single bounce go its way.
Knee jerk reactions are not the solution.
The team needs to focus on getting back to its identity. Will be interesting to see the response to the early season adversity.

LOL @ how every so often, we have to throw in that this is Feasters team that had success
Still think the keys to every single thing that worked for the Flames last year, was Gio-Brodie, neither of which were brought in by Feaster. Just IMO. The stretch pass, or D jumping in, was no Feaster genius plan or Hartley plan, but the fact that we had Gio-Brodie showing the team that they could do it and it worked, so others followed suite. And it worked.
Coaches get too much credit when teams are doing well, but they get the pink slip too easily as well (which sucks). But, it is a lot easier to replace a coach then a 23-man roster, so if this continues on, the easiest solution is just shake up the coach. Happens all the time.

Something bothering me about Hartley. Some of those points in games when we're all losing our minds, the feelings likely not that much different on the bench. Call a damn time-out!

Please enlighten us all, then, and tell us how Treleving has put his mark on this team, and how that is working out for us.

People said all last year that the Flames weren't very good. They were prepared for the second period maybe 10 games last year. It was a lucky year; they won a playoff round against he only other team that's worse than them that made the playoffs. It's no surprise they aren't winning this year without system and coaching changes.
Puck support was bad last year. They were terrible in their own zone last year. Despite aquiring players that should help them play less in their own zone, they still aren't better at puck support.
Last year they made the playoffs on some fantastic goal tending to start the year, and 3rd period comebacks later in the year. That's not a sign of good coaching. That's a sign of confident players and luck.
A good coach isn't determined by how he does when things are going well, as almost anyone could be a good coach then, but when things are going bad. When the flames finally make it out of this slump. assuming they do, will be the measure of this coaching staff. If they are a better team, with better puck support as they leave this slump, then it's good coaching. If the game doesn't change and they only wind due to 3rd period comebacks again, then it's time to part with the coaching staff and find someone that can prepare these guys better.

Sam Bennett, Michael Frolik, and Derek Grant. Combined with Colborne, probably our best 3 forwards tonight.
Hamilton has struggled, but he's starting to get better. Right now he just needs to get some confidence and take a hit to make a play.

Two of them are employed. I think it's crazy to think of firing Hartley this early but if the season continues like this it would appear of a coach that lost the team and doubtful they bring him back. Coyotes are off to a decent start but if they fall off the map I imagine Treliving will be keeping an eye on Tippett as I feel if he's unemployed in the offseason he would be the next coach of the Calgary Flames.

There is a huge difference between a midseason slump and coming out of the gates like this. The Flames had built up a winning record prior to the slump and the losing streak hurt but they were still within reach of the playoffs. Now the team is so behind they can't afford a losing streak the rest of the season. It's way too early to give yourself such little margin for error. The odds are not in their favour although it still could happen.

Hard to say, Burke and Treliving both have such a wide network.... but yeah I've been thinking, its gonna be Tippett one day. I think its gonna be a guy who has dealt with NHL egos and not a junior or minor league guy.

Well except for the starting goalie, the top two defensemen and arguably best two players on the team, the second line center, the spark plug that had a huge effect on the Vancouver series, the defenseman that stepped up to make a solid pairing with Brodie and a handful of role players that helped make the team the kind of team that was hard to play against (Stajan, Bouma, Bollig) you're right essentially Feasters team.

-He brought in the goalie that led the team in wins, GAA, sv % and led them to their first round win.
-He has continued to stick with the rebuild despite the temptation to ramp up the process last year when the team overachieved.
-He didn't knee jerk fire Hartley because he wasn't his guy.
-The deals he has signed have not handcuffed us financially
-He has resisted going after the "big whale" that would make a splash but be a terrible signing for the team cough Richards and O'Reilly cough
Engelland has been a fine signing and done basically everything that should have been expected of him, more if you consider his play with Brodie at the end of last year and in the play-offs. The only people complaining about this are those that expect way too much from a 6th defenseman.
Hamilton is struggling early but wasn't brought in to be a Norris contender this year, if he was he would be making a hell of a lot more than 5.75 million. He is a 22 year old defensemen that has played top 4 minutes on a multiple play-off teams and has a season of 42 points already. He has great size and has shown in juniors and at times in the NHL that he is a competent or better defender. That was a great trade that fits it well with the plan to contend not right this minute but for the next 5+ years.
Frolik has been one of the better players on the team this season so not sure what the complaint would be about that signing.
Sure every signing has not been a home run but that happens with every GM.

We're not a cup contender. We're a team in year 3 of a rebuild. This performance is about what's expected.
