Austin Watson hit on Brian Dumoulin: Why is this a penalty?
Dumoulin saw him racing in after him - that's why he moved the puck quickly.
He turned his back to the attacking player after and, as someone said, admired his pass. He may have been in a vulnerable position but he made himself vulnerable. Had he fired off the puck and then braced into the boards like you're supposed to do when someone is bearing down on you, it wouldn't have been a problem.
Maybe Watson was expecting that; it seems reasonable. Whatever the case, the interesting point for me is to what degree the injured player is responsible and how that is factored in to how the play is called.
