Maybe Dickey in game 7 if they need him! Maybe even Estrada on short rest.

Makes sense that Stroman would be in if it goes south.

Im feeling Price getting his first W of the postseason.
I dont think Dickey is going to draw in until/if the Jays make it to the World Series. Doesnt seem like the Jays mgmt have faith in Dickey. Especially in must win games.

He did incredibly well last round in a must-win game, however. I think if/when he pitches again it'll be a nice bounce back.

Kinda surprised at Gibbons' candidness in this quote:
@Wilnerness590: Gibby: Loup is here. I don't think you'll see him in with the game on the line, but you never know how it'll go. #Bluejays #Jays

Isn't a bad rotation. I know people are down on Dickey right now - but over the course of a full season he's probably better than a lot of other #3 guys.
The key is can you actually re-sign Estrada. What is his appetite to stay? How much do you believe he can sustain this year going forward. If you answer that question wrong you could lock yourself into a very bad deal.
|
I don't think that's a playoff rotation at all. Dickey is okay as a 5th but way to inconsistent. He's pretty much at the point where he is unreliable, no other way to describe it, even with his solid second half and occasional ability to be lights out. He gets rocked way, way too often.
Estrada is great, I really like him and Stroman has loads of potential. I think they are best described as 2/3's at this point. So we have two #2s and a #5 with Dickey (if Estrada signs).
Hutch is nothing at this point and will likely have to prove himself again before the Jays plan around him. Sanchez has looked good in the BP and that's where he might stay, I that's his niche, despite being drafted/groomed as a starter. His command just isn't good enough to be a starter yet and it's one of those things he might not figure out. He looks great as a setup man throwing 15-20 pitches though.
Bottom line is they will need someone (an ace) if Price moves on IMO. If they don't address that I honestly think the team will be doomed to another .500 season.
Noah Snydergaard would be nice to have right about now

I don't mean to attack this poster but can we stop with this already?! It's getting exhausting having every 10th post pining for Syndergaard. You have absolutely no idea how he would have turned out with the Blue Jays organization.
Just for clarity, I wasn't a fan of the trade then and am still not now. It was a risk at the time for AA and boy did it miss.

Yup first time in the playoffs in over 2 decades and people are still complaining about a trade made years ago, that includes a guy that helped get the team to the post-season.
And if you think Dickey is a 5th starter, I don't know what to tell you.
Do people not understand how hard it is to find good starting pitching? You aren't going to easily replace Dickey with something better.

I think discussion of the trade is warranted as the two players have made a large impact for the Mets in their run to the world series.
Being stoked about the Jays being in the playoffs and critiquing a major trade the Jays made aren't mutually exclusive.

He "helped" the team get into the postseason by losing 11 games and being downright awful in the first half of the season. I guess no other pitcher could have done that.

Actually, yes we do. The Jays are a quality organization that has a track record of successfully grooming young talent. Look at Stroman & Osuna for example. Also, there are players who have played better for the Jays than they have for other teams; look at how much better Donaldson has been since becoming a Jay.

Are you pretending baseball has a 70 game season???? He was one of the best pitchers in baseball in the second half. What a cherry pick

I wonder what the family emergency is with Loup? Can't he just leave the roster so the Jays could call up an emergency player?

They did an interview with him and it was complications with the birth of his son which ended up turning out ok.

They just talked to Loup about it. His wife was pregnant and the child was born prematurely. Everybody is healthy now and he is back with the team and feeling good.
Ok guys, enough about Dickey. Game 6. Go Jays.

What a waste.
Revere starts with a lead off double and the big swingers swing big and strand him.
Didn't even get to 10 pitches.

Well that's a frustrating start. Revere doubles to lead off and doesn't get any further.

Yeah, definitely a freeswinging start to the game. At least they got a runner on base in the 1st. That's a start.

That's a run I guarantee the Royals score. 2nd batter slashes one to the right side to advance runner to third. Third batter lifts one to score the speedy runner.
Jays are going to live or die by the long ball it seeems.

What a waste of a leadoff double. Especially in this ballpark where we struggle to score runs
