Huh? Righties always have their right hand lower on the stick.

The majority of right handed players are taught to shoot "left", that is undeniable.
Just think about it, like 85-90% of population is right handed, but in hockey the majority shoot "left"

Every hockey player that I know who shoots right is also right handed, including myself.
I'm not sure handedness is related to how a player shoots, though I've never really thought about it. Interesting topic.
The weirdest thing to me is when a player plays hockey left and plays golf right. I know several guys where this is the case. Makes absolutely no sense to me.

I'm left handed, catch left handed. I throw right and shoot right handed in hockey and in golf.
But I have to shoot left when I play goal.

That's me. Just how I was taught to golf. Thought when I tried to play golf left or hockey right, it's just way too weird now.

Most right handed players shoot left, at least in Canada. In the States it isn't always true. Some think it is because Americans first pick up a baseball bat and transfer that habit over to hockey and so have a larger percentage of players who shoot right.

That's me too, and now that I think about it, my dad as well. Never gave it a second thought... Right handed, hockey left, golf right, catch left, throw right.
Topic: Just win, Flames. I would enjoy some good vibes going into that back-to-back in NYC.

I am right-handed and shoot left in hockey. I would've shot left-handed in golf, but my grandpa told me there was no such thing as left-handed golf clubs. So now playing right is no problem.
My grandpa played cross-handed with right clubs his whole life, so maybe he actually believed himself.

Besides that Hamilton- Smid pairing making sense with a stay at home guy paired with a mobile player, the same can be said about pairing Russell with Engelland. This is a pairing I thought should be tried from the beginning.

Go Flames! The boys are due, I think it'll be an ugly game, but they should be able to pull it off. This is where the Flames put their foot down and start the march to the playoffs and beyond.

Sorry to go off topic, but RH vs LH shooting thing is really fascinating
Was just talking about someone about this the other day, but as it was explained to me:
- Dominant hand on top - Mainly defenceman as you want to use your strong hand if you are defending with 1 hand on the stick or poke away a puck
- Dominant hand on the bottom - stick handling is more optimum as your dominant hand is moving the stick
Never understood how power is generated with the dominant hand on top, since it's the bottom hand that acts as the fulcrum to flex the stick and release the energy to shoot a puck
Back on topic, please just win tonight

Flames are trying to ice the slowest defense in the NHL tonight. With The Shooter Tutor in net it should be a blowout of epic proportions.

I'm right handed and shoot right handed, swing a bat right, golf right, catch left and ride goofy... Is that weird?

I actually think the Flames might win tonight - if they don't keep playing in their own defensive zone.

Considering that in hockey, baseball and golf you are comfortable with your left side "facing the play" (ie. the net when shooting, the pitcher when batting and down the fairway when golfing)...and then snowboarding your right side is "facing the play" (down the hill).
Judge's ruling: weird.

You've really got to can it with this stuff. Like him or hate him, Jonas Hiller is part of the Calgary Flames. I don't know why you would have a derogatory nickname for a player who is actively trying to help your team win. It's incredibly disrespectful to call him something like that when he's done nothing but give his all to the team. That's all you can ask for from a player, so unless he has personally insulted you, try and fake some enthusiasm for him.
When I read some of the things that people say about professional athletes, I would never, ever want my son to be one of them.
