Don't know how he's playing overall, but only 2 points in 5 games this season.

I would love for the Flames to be able to pry Manttha and Frk out of Detroit. Even though Frk has had injury probs over the last year, I think he's very good up the middle. Was the Center between Drouin and McKinnon too so knows how to play a fast tempo, skilled game but is a bigger body.
If there was a deal like Wideman and Backlund for Mantha and Frk as the main pieces, I'd be very happy. Of course the Flames would need to retain salary or take on a anchor contract to free up some space for Detroit. But I think Back's and Wide's would do very well there.

But what does Detroit need? I don't think no that solves any of their problems. They already have a better, younger Wideman in Green, and they have good centers so I'm not sure where they need Backlund

Boomer on 960 says Conroy was in Winnipeg last night scouting the Blue Jackets AHL affiliate.
He speculates Conroy was scouting one of their prospects (e.g. Rychel or Heatherington)

Torts likes his vets and his shot blockers.
Could be a good place for Wideman and Russell.
Maybe Dubinsky can come back the other way.
Wideman + Russell for Dubinsky and Rychel?
[edit] nah that's a crappy trade

Friedman mentioning the Pens really need a puck moving Dman. Does Wideman for Perron make sense? Pitt gets a PMD and the Flames add a second line forward as well as move that cap hit going into next year as Perron is a pending UFA

Friedman also on 960 says he also heard Conroy was in Winnipeg and also speculates he was there to watch Rychel.
He also said Columbus' asking price for Rychel is really high right now.
Friedman thinks Blue Jackets want a young defenceman for Rychel.
Possible they asked for Shea Theodore for Rychel, but Ducks balked at the price.

You'd like to get rid of 2 bonafide NHL'ers capable of 80-100 pts per season (combined) to get 2 prospects that have really proved absolutely nothing in any pro league?
OK bud. I'll stick with whatever Brad chooses (which will definitely not be this ridiculous proposal).

I wonder if Wotherspoon+ someone like Granlund gets it done? Jarmo likey is familiar with Granlund and Wotherspoon is a decent prospect but we would have to add to him to get Rychel

It wouldn't hurt the Flames to move those contracts. The cap situation has got pretty tight as of late. I think the Flames would want as much flexibility as possible this summer considering they will need to give Johnny and Monny a raise and still make changes

Sounds like Columbus would be looking more for a Hickey level prospect, which in my opinion, is too high a price.

While I agree that the cap situation may not be ideal in the near future, I still don't think you trade away 80-100 points per season for a pipe dream. We have enough pipe dreams in the AHL waiting for their opportunity (Arnold, Poirier, Klimchuk, Culkin, Sieloff).

Any relation to Dar Heatherington?
Quote:
On May 3, 2003, Heatherington first made Canadian and international headlines when she disappeared from a conference in Great Falls, Montana. Three days later, she was found in Las Vegas, Nevada, alleging that she had been abducted and raped. Police found her report to be inconsistent and lacking evidence, and she eventually recanted. She was charged with filing a false report to police, but pled not guilty. She continues to allege that the incident happened as reported, and that the police coerced her into recanting her original statement.
Previously, Heatherington had filed reports with Lethbridge police that she was being stalked. She was receiving sexually explicit letters from her stalker, but her reports often did not match police surveillance evidence. On June 10, 2003, she was charged with public mischief after police concluded that the stalker did not exist, and that Heatherington was likely writing the letters herself. On September 8, she pled not guilty to those charges as well.

So sad he never played for the Devils. Would have been a great jersey.
