Had to win two on the road and one at home too.

That trade made me sad when it happened and now I find it downright depressing. Dickey is so inconsistent, I really hope he's not back unless they decline the option and sign him for peanuts. He seems like a really nice guy but I'd rather just have a steady, average pitcher than one that is either lights out or gets lit up.

If you don't bring Dickey back you have to replace 3 starters and that's with Hutch in the rotation. And you need to add bull pen arms to replace guys like Hawkins and Lowe. Can't do that

It's just 1 game at a time, they have the pitching advantage in each one

its crazy to think they just need some more consistency from the bats

Yes for all of the bullpen talk, it's the bats that need to get going.

Win today, and live to fight another day with Price and Stroman set to go in 6 & 7. That's all you can ask for.

Dickey makes 12 M a year though and is among the top 20 highest paid pitchers in the league. You can easily replace him with someone that is more consistent for that price tag. That said, what scares me about not picking up the Dickey option is that Rogers may not allow those funds to be reallocated.

Buerhle (19M), Romero (7.5M), and Dickey (12M) all come off the books this year. Signing and ace and another quality starter to fill the gaps should not be an issue with the Jays financially even if Rogers keep the budget at status quo.

I just feel like Royals can't do anything wrong at the moment. Zobrist, Cain and especially Escobar are all hitting well above their season averages, I can't help but feel they will regress back to their season averages. Edinson Volquez won't have as easy as a time as game 1 that's for sure.

I'm not sure I agree. Finding starting pitching is never easy.

I have some good news;

When I watch the game at home, the Jays are 0-5
When I watch the game anywhere else (or don't watch), The Jays are 4-0.
Clearly this is the deciding factor. Today I am at work, Friday I am at the Flames game, Saturday at a Halloween party.

Jays win in 7 clearly.

^^^The Royals undoubtedly feel close to invincible right now. I mean they were 4 runs down with 6 outs left in their season, and they've absolutely rolled since, outside Game 3, and even then they fought hard to the end. Unless their confidence dips big time, it's pretty hard to see them losing 3 in a row.

Game today is almost a 5 inning game for the Royals, if they have the lead after 5 they'll have a very rested pen waiting to slam the door. Imperative the Jays have a good start this afternoon if they have a chance today, do not see them getting much off the KC pen.

@Wilnerness590: Gibby: If Price has to pitch today, Stroman could come back on short rest in Game 6. Price or Dickey in Game 7. #Bluejays #Jays

Why would Price "have" to pitch today? Not sure I understand what Gibby is saying there. I think Price should pitch today personally if he is feeling well enough to, but this decision should have been made ahead of yesterday's game. IE, If we lose your pitching, if we win, it's Estrada.

He's obviously saying out of the pen. A pen with no lefties. Its all hands on deck.

He was just saying Price is available to pitch, not start. It's an elimination game and Although Price is on short rest, he could come in and relieve similar to ALDS game 4.

Hendricks can't pitch today, neither can Tepera. Hawkins can't be used, he just can't get anyone out. Loup isn't with the team.

Today the bullpen is Price, Sanchez (2 innings), Osuna, Lowe in a pinch, and *gulp* Dickey.

That bullpen is some kind of terrible. Hope Estrada can go long. That's scary as well as Estrada's stamina seems to limit him to 6 strong innings.

I wonder if they will actually try and hit some base hits today instead of swinging for the fences at every at bat.

The Jays are the best offensive team in the league. They don't need to change their swings right now to start hitting singles, they just need to do what they did all year and be patient, get good pitches to hit, and hit it hard.

I agree that you can't change what you did all year now, but what they did all year is not the greatest fit for postseason baseball. The Pitching is too good, and often times you are playing another team that is good with the bat. If you can't knock guys in without a homer, and the other guys can, you are going to be in trouble the days where you aren't crushing the ball, especially at a place like Kauffman field.

Today, they can win if they are patient and get some walks and singles from the bottom of the lineup so when one of the big guys does inevitably hit a home run at Rogers Centre, it isn't a solo shot. They do that today, they will win the game. That strategy won't work in Games 6 and 7 though. Will need to string some hits together in Kansas.

I am expecting the Jays to win today. Second time they've seen Volquez in a week, and it's in the friendly confines of the Roger Centre.
