Nobody on the Flames has that charisma or stands out like that.

The best was when Russell tried hitting him twice and Russell just bounced off him and ended up on his ass both times like a total tool.
A good microcosm of the game.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned...
Third period about to start. Teams come out on the ice and are skating around and Alex Ovechkin hits the ice and starts skating towards Ramo pretending to deke and shoot a puck. He then makes the turn up the ice and goes back to his teams side.
Somebody explain to me why not ONE Flame took exception to this? Why nobody grabbed him and started beating the crap out of him? Why they all just acted like it never happened?
I mean we have ONE win this season. We are not playing as a team. This is something that could have dragged them all together. 30 seconds later Ovechkin scores on us. Think he would have scored if he had eaten a couple of fists?
Totally disrespectful by Ovechkin, but even worse was the Flames reaction. In all my years of watching hockey I have never seen this. I have seen fights start up because a guy puts his skate over the center line as they are in warmups.
The Flames players should feel much shame.
I know I was embarrassed to watch that as a Flames fan. This team needs to wake the F up.

It was at the start of the second period. Holtby walked out of the bench and headed left to the far end net. Ovechkin followed him out but then hung a hard right, headed to the Flames goal and mocked a deke and shot. 30 seconds later, he scored to make it 2-1.
In fairness, I'm not sure many on the ice really saw what he was doing as it looked like most of the Flames had their backs to him (the second period start always involves a lot of criss-crossing of players to get to the far ends) and I'm guessing the guys on the bench were still getting seated and shuffling their butts and didn't see it. No one around me noticed either.

As he was skating down, he had a wide open lane to the net and a great chance for a shot. He ran out of room because he held onto it too long and was looking to pass the entire time. The D played him perfectly as he blocked the passing lane and Gaudreau instead of shooting tried to make the pretty play behind the goalie. I'm the last guy in the world who should be telling an offensive talent like him what to do. But he had a chance to shoot and instead looked to pass.
And that's the story of the offence this season. Guys looking to pass instead of shooting.

I could have sworn I heard Bell and Hrudey mention it. Hrudey was saying how he didn't understand why an unsportsmanlike wasn't called as players aren't allowed to skate to the oppositions end but OV did. Maybe it was a different play, but what you described related to what the announcers were talking about.
But this isn't at all a tough Flames team. Sure Engelland and Ferland will fight. But for the last 3+ seasons it's probably well known around the league that you can do stuff like this to Calgary. We had a bit more fight last season. But only the season before we watched guys like Stempniak and our goalies get pushed around and no one did anything. I'm not surprised at all by the lack of reaction.

Also, he oddly skated away and started doing a lap before the national anthem had ended.

I'm now wondering if Big Ern had a bigger role on the team then I thought. Not just for the toughness aspect but if he was a calming factor in the lockeroom.

Looks like the Gio/Hamilton experiment is over, at practice today as in the third period last night. Thank god. As soon as Hamilton was demoted, Gio looked himself and went and scored a goal.

34.38% Corsi For with 77.78% zone starts and a -3
...That's nothing short of awful.

I didn't notice it either but wow this team is pathetic for letting that go.
Why is Bollig even on this team? If he can't be a tough guy why the hell is he even on the team? Ferland too at this point.

That's embarrassing. Shows you the lack of heart on this team if they just ignore that

I'm sure he really helped the locker room from the AHL last year.

Westgarth was a terrible hockey player but played his role well. You need guys who are not afraid of looking like a 'bad guy' and will do what is needed.

I agree someone should have pummeled Ovi for that. But I also think no one really noticed, including the refs.

If nobody noticed shame on them. Pretty sure Ramo saw him. Did he forget english all of a sudden? Can't tell his team mates?
