No issues with this.
Each goalie got 3 games, neither were good, Ramo was probably worse, and in the end he gets waived.
Now the question is if he gets assigned to Stockton if he clears waivers...with only 65 games for the farm team this year are their enough starts for him and Gillies down there.

Would have preferred Hiller to go, but at this point we just need to get Ortio some time.

Just remember, putting him on waivers doesn't mean he's gone. It's just step one towards... something.
Mason Raymond cleared waivers a couple of weeks ago, and he's still on the roster.
Something had to give before this weekend because I couldn't see a scenario where they went on their big eastern road trip with 5 games in 7 nights and only brought 6 defencemen on the trip.

Should have never signed him this summer anyway. Especially for that $ amount, knowing there's a chance it would come to this.

IMO Ramo has the worst rebound control of the 3. That's n glowing recommendation for Hiller mind you. But Ramo has no puck placement and poor recovery positioning. His athleticism saves him because he's an excellent scramler but boy am I ever happy this was the way the cookie crumbled.

I cant even comment, I've flip-flopped on the Ramo/Hiller debate so many times even I dont know what my position or opinion on it is anymore.
I think we've seen what there is to see. Ramo is more athletic and makes more insane saves but hes also erratic and lets in some real softies, Hiller makes the saves that a goaltender of his calibre and experience should make and thats about it other than he has some bad days at the office.
Ultimately I think thats what bought Hiller a stay of execution. Hes steady. He has lower highs but also higher lows.

It was a 1-year deal, it wasnt a big risk. Other than money it didnt cost us much if anything.

Does anyone grab him at this point? If he had been waived at the beginning of the season I imagine someone would have picked him up for 0 acquisition cost but now I don't know. His value is essentially rock bottom, evidenced by him being waived vs traded.

Flames make the right call, though a tough call.
Ramo wasn't the reason for the loss last night but something had to give.

There was some overlap between Ramo's time in Tampa and Tortorella's. I wonder what their relationship was like?
He'd likely be an upgrade over McBackup, but Columbus doesn't have the cap space to just claim him.

Instead of competition it created a large distraction and help disrupt the teams start to the season.. Tre will learn from this

I'd like to see him get assigned to Stockton. We still don't know what we have in Ortio over the long term and injuries could happen.

The only team I could see picking him up would be Columbus. Maybe? Still a long shot.

If he doesn't get claimed I wonder if you see the trade with retained salary by Calgary. happened a couple times last year, as i recall.

I had my money on Ramo/Ortio, but something had to happen and I am finally glad it's over.

I'm just glad something happened. It was getting a bit ridiculous. I'm not a goalie - never have been - and clearly have never been a professional hockey player, but you have to think that the three goaltender circus was a bit of a distraction to Hiller and Ramo.
From a personal standpoint I liked Ramo better, but neither have been good so I suppose it didn't really matter what happened. Hopefully they continue the momentum and assign him to Stockton (assuming he clears).

Long overdue, he should have never been re-signed.
