- Call an inquiry into missing and murdered indigenous women.
- Lift the two per cent cap on increases to First Nations education funding and establish a new financial relationship with First Nations.
- Launch a new competition to replace the CF-18 fighter jet and scrap the F-35 fighter program.
- Review defence capabilities with the aim of creating a more efficient military.
- Hire additional mental health professionals to support veterans.
- Reinstate the long-form census.
- Implement imported gun-marking legislation.
- Begin a review of environmental assessment processes.
- Double the number of immigration applications allowed for parents and grand-parents.
- Lift the visa requirement for Mexican travel to Canada.

One thing I don't understand, why the Conservatives feel they need to pander to the social Conservatives at all? It's not likely those people would jump ship to the Liberals or NDP.

As someone who consulted frequently with environmental assessment regulators, I can say with confidence that process needs to be removed, not added. What a brutally inefficient system.

I don't remember what riding he was running in, or I'd look it up myself, but how many votes did the crazy anti-gay bus driver guy get?

It says they are reviewing the process. Not adding, necessarily.
Maybe they agree that it is brutally inefficient, and thus, a review?

Saskatchewan's economy has taken a big step forward under Brad Wall, but I also feel like he has set this province up for a big collapse. The housing market is at a stand still, over flowing with over priced homes, and jobs that were once plentiful are now scarce. Trades are starting to lowball each other to stay employed and while not as bad as Alberta, the effect on local businesses is starting to show.
All of that being said I have a feeling Trudeau will be able to help stimulate the job market again and this will in turn make Brad Wall look competent when in fact he would be a bigger mistake than Harper as PM.

I deal with it a lot as well and it is really horrible. Not the actual environmental assessments themselves, but the amount of time that it takes to get responses and the lack of flexibility in the system. They took science out of it, and made it so process driven that it is hard to move forward on them.

The assessment tools themselves are atrocious now that the so-called social license has become paramount, and often, would negate or counter findings from the biophysical assessment.
The inclusion of TEK is/was/and will always be a blatant political maneuver designed to funnel money discretely to the bands.

I thought that there was an RCMP release that showed that the majority of the woman were killed by people that were familiar to them or in their immediate family

He got more votes than good old Harry Leather running against Harper, so I guess he has that going for him.
Also looking at Calgary Heritage: Nicolas Duchastel de Montrouge got 61 total votes. He has almost as many letters in his name as total votes.

The risk of not pandering to the social dinosaurs isn't that they will jump ship and vote NDP or Liberal; the risk is that if their archaic views are ignored, they'll split from the Conservatives and form a new party, and the CPC can't afford to lose that voting bloc. It's the same dilemma facing the Republican Party in the US who have let the religious extremists drive the bus into crazy town: can't win with them, can't win without them.

While I don't think it's a FML scenario, I do also think it's rather pointless. All firearms already have a serial# stamped on them. Not sure what an additional one will do.

But if they went the other way, they would likely pull some from the Liberals. Would it make up for the loss of their far-right wingers? Not sure, but I think it would be pretty much a wash. You lose some sure-fire votes, but it gives you more freedom to court more votes from the Liberals. Particularly in the west, I know a lot of people (myself included) who could potentially swing between the parties, but just can't vote for CPC based on the views of their far-right.
It would also give the far right a more concentrated voice.

They did and that's is probably the case but no first nations wanted to accept it. Claimed it was racist.

Wow, a Canadian PM is giving a press conference right now and taking questions from reporters.
I'm mostly being tongue in cheek, but I'm an immigrant, so I'm not sure I've ever actually seen that before.
