Daily Rob Anders Hate Thread: Getting sued now.
The candidate nomination committee was unfairly conducted and he's getting his ass sued by several Calgary West Tories.
http://calsun.canoe.ca/News/Alberta/...89185-sun.html
The application, filed by lawyer Robert Hawkes, notes the CNC's appointed chair, Colleen Mason, is the fiancee and common-law spouse of Anders' constituency office manager. The action claims even though no proper search was conducted, one qualified candidate, businessman Walter Wakula, did come forward, but was later disqualified.
I'm still thinking that Anders has some dirt on Stephen Harper dating back to their Reform Party days. Get this loser out of here.

I just want an explanation as to why the other guy was disqualified.

I saw the story on the news 2 nights ago (was pretty surprised to see that the Anders debacle has finally hit mainstream news).
I think what the West Riding members are asking for is pretty reasonable; a nomination procedure that follows the riding's and National Party's constitutional nomination process.
Honestly, I think him getting sued is fantastic. It might energize the CPC voters to kick him out and put someone competant in.

Rob Anders in office should be an embarassment to any voting Calgarian.

Robert Hawkes (who filied the application) is the son of Jim Hawkes who was the MP for Calgary West for the PC Party. And, interestingly, in '85 & '86 Jim Hawkes' chief aid was Stephen Harper.

I think the party keeps him in a basement while a clone sits in Parliament, silent as can be.

I think they are afraid that he will do more damage if they get rid of him because he'll spout off to the media about Lord knows what. The guy is a wildman and I think they should be getting him out right now if they can, with no election in sight.

Now there is another lawsuit over nominations in the Wild Rose riding. link
Quote:
|
The latest snub is to Doug Campbell, an international agricultural economist and one-time adviser to Tory cabinet ministers who wanted to run against MP Myron Thompson for the nomination in Alberta's Wild Rose riding. As happened in at least three other ridings, Campbell was not given any reasons for his rejection.

Do a little research on him and figure it out. Everyone has their own reasons. I don't like him because he vetoed Nelson Mandella's honorary Canadian citizenship, because Mandella was a terrorist... I believe he was the sole vote in the House of Commons against the honour.

That was one of the things that first got me upset, but he does nothing for the riding. He devotes a lot of his time to speaking against the perils of communism. I think that's a waste of time at this point.

Anders had a summer job where my friend was working. Anders allegedly slept at his desk all day. I imagine he is getting lots of sleep in Ottawa too.
Harper should just boot him out.

I did, and the only thing that seems to be the biggest strike against him is the Nelson Mandela thing. But it seems he inspires a level of hatred way way beyond what is reasonable and normal.

I agree, the Mandela thing is the 'biggest strike', but its not the only one. I'm surprised you researched it but still can't find any other reasons, I know for a fact that they're out there, easy to find, a site was even linked in this thread.
People don't react 'reasonably and normally' to MP's they find to be an atrocious waste of space. Why should his upset constituents be 'less angry' with him? Especially considering this latest CPC candidate confirmation scandal.

I'm not sure that he's any worse than a handful of other federal politicians out there but he just doesn't have that 'cult of personality' that many other worse politicians have that saves them from Anders level scrutiny.

Anders is a Calgary MP. Most people on this board are from Calgary. I doubt there are anti-Anders threads on the Montreal Canadiens fan board. I don't think he's under undue scrutiny, he just happens to be a lot of Calpucker's MP.
I've heard plenty of complaining around here about other politicians.

Hrmm...despite all his anti-fans, he keeps winning his riding. Strange indeed. I think it has to do with people disliking the other parties and would rather put up with Anders because of his party than vote in another candidate in a party they dislike or disagree with.
I know a lot of people who voted for him in the last election just because they hated the Liberals and wanted to see them out. They didn't exactly like Rob Anders, but their dislike of the Liberals was strong enough for them to at least stomach Anders.
