Estrada is going to be looking for a big day. Probably his last contract at 32 years old, and he's never had anything negotiating leverage in his career until his performance this season. I'd be very leary giving him a 3 year 15M contract (which is what I suspect is asking price will be) under the Jays salary structure. If the Jays were the Yankees, I'd give that money to him in a heartbeat, but Rogers owns the Jays, and if we take that contract and it doesn't work out we'll be eating it for years and the money will be at the sacrifice of another pitcher or position player. I'm not confident Estrada will repeat his performance from this season.

I know OBA (opponents batting average) isn't everything when it comes to stats nowadays, but he did have the best mark in the AL and he played the entire season in the starting rotation. I think he's figured it out. That's not a fluke to sustain that number for an entire season.

^ yeah, I'm of the belief as well that he's figured it out. I'm only scared of his age (in giving him a longer contract than 3 years). But $12M, maybe $13M I'd be fine with for each of the 3 seasons. I think that's fair, and I don't think you'd find many stupid GM's who'd go totally overboard with that. This is a 32 year old we're referring to.
On the second note of Price, even if he's been hot and cold this season, there's a bit of game theory to resigning him. If we don't, you can be damned sure the Yanks will put in a bid. He's then taking wins away from us. Despite the bats killing it this season, you still need that Ace for the regular season. Whether he has the jitters or not in the postseason, a guy who generally does that well in the regular season will eventually have the confidence to figure it out. Maybe my $22M/year was a bit low, but I really doubt there's a GM who will give out $30M/year after his playoff jitters. That I could see Greinke getting, but it's because he did better in the postseason. That's just me, but I'm thinking Price has hurt his chances with his play this off-season. Plus with many teams being more fiscally responsible, I don't see too many $30M+ contracts handed out anymore.

One thing I am sure of is that David Price will never sign with the Yankees. He's said before that he doesn't want to sign there because of the "no beard" clubhouse policy (yes, some MLB free agents have taken this in consideration before) and $$$ isn't a motivating factor.
At this stage of the game, the only AL East team that I'm really concerned next year are the Red Sox. If they figure out how to fix their SP, I guarantee that the AL East will be a three team race next season between the Yanks, Jays, and Boston.

Also, I'm not sure why the Jays wouldn't take the option on Dickey. He was lights out in the second half, and they are short on starting pitching as of right now.

You take that option. A guaranteed 200 innings from a vet like Dickey, heck any pitcher, for that amount of $$$ doesn't grow on trees IMO. It's a hell of a deal for 200 innings.

Would have been a single and a double play, 2 out. Instead it's 1 out and 1-0. Brutal.
At least Pillar is making great defensive plays out there.

Bone headed play costs the Jays another run. It seems like that's been commonplace for them in the playoffs. You can't just give teams extra bases. Bautista didn't even make a good attempt at the dive. Sell out or don't.

EE swings at a clear ball to end the inning. Frustrating start to the game. They need to settle down. At least Cueto threw quite a few pitches.

He saw about 8 fastballs. Finally got fooled by offspeed.

How about we swing a bat to get on base instead of looking for a home run?

It'd be nice to get a bouncer up the middle like that this series instead of every hard hit right at a guy.

Was wondering why the first hit was called a triple? Shouldn't that have been a single and an error?

These leadoff hits are killing us. So frustrating. Glad that they worked the count with Cueto though, and Pillar's catch if I'm thinking glass half full.
