Were the colts attempting to get the Patriots to use a timeout or something? Never intending to snap, or move back into normal position prior to snap?
I love seeing weird formations, and frankly, they should be used much more, but something was clearly not executed there.

That is my guess. I wasnt watching the playclock, but I assume they planned on taking it right down to 1 and hoping for the Pats to be stunned and jump offside. For whatever reason, the ball was snapped.

Or "snap only if NE is in a certain formation", which, obviously, NE wasn't in that formation.
I remember the packers trying a fourth down pass out of a similar formation a number of years ago, that I think would have worked, except the pass was dropped (I think?)
I can't remember which team snapped the ball halfway across the field nearly sideways, directly to a wide receiver, a couple of years ago.
So many things are legal with formations and snapping, that you pretty much never see. CFL even more so with on side players on kicking plays.

Browns are really two plays away from being 4-2. Good teams win those close games.
Hard to believe how much Manning has declined.

Last two punts NE could have run another 20 seconds each off at least. Why the quick snaps?

So is Luck just not quite the QB he was touted as? I mean, he is talented and all but an interception machine himself. I just don't see "the next Payton Manning" out of him.

This game is coming at a big cost to the Pats. Cannon, Slater, Sheard all taken out. Hightower and Solder injured last week. Yikes.

Going to Denver on the 29th when the Patriots are in town. I hope come then both teams will still be unbeaten. The Packers may take the Broncos out in two weeks, but we also may try and make a quick stop in Lambeau on Thanksgiving to see them play the Bears. Finally get to see Brady vs. Manning! At least Brady is still as good as he ever was.

Irsay/Grigson, whats the excuse this time? better call Roger, clearly the Pats cheated, how else can they continue to defeat the juggernaut that is the Colts? First Peyton and now hutterite beard Luck, neither can seem to get it done. An investigation is in order.

Timed and executed so perfectly, he nearly could have grabbed the ball from the holder and taken it the other way for 2.

for all the seahawk fans who think Wilson is elite....
Wilson now 0-11 when the opposing team scores 25pts or more.

The worst part about whatever that play was, was that the Colts had played about as well as they could have to that point. Pagano shows no faith in his team to play well enough down the stretch to win, so pull out the gimmick plays. He is gonna go from 3 straight playoffs appearances and an AFC title game to fired just like that. Grigson should probably follow him out the door.

When Indy got the pick 6 and went up 14-10, why onside kick? Brady scored in no time with a 60 yard field.

That's not it at all. Manning will go out on his own terms. That's the way it has to be.

Then sadly this great defensive season for the Broncos will result in a Wild Card loss when they lose 10-9. Manning is a legend to be sure, but he unquestionably looks like one of the worst QBs in the league. Ryan Fitzpatrick looks better. Can't imagine how weak that arm will be for a home playoff game at Mile High in the cold. Kubiak of course doesn't have the balls to do anything, but they're going to blow a good look at winning it all with a QB who can't physically perform even at an average level anymore.

There's a lot of pressure on the offensive line and running backs to perform, and have a productive running game, because the offense simply can't be relied upon Manning. His pass attempts needs to be dramatically reduced; averaging 40 per game is too much. You might as well put up 6 points on the board for the opposing team by default at the start of the game because one interception will be returned for a touchdown at the current rate.
But reduction in his pass attempts can only happen if the running game can net several yards average. In fact, if the running backs dictate respect, it would open up the passing lanes for Manning a bit more. It's the Browns, but Ronnie Hillman went over 100 yards with 20 touches, so it's something to build on.
Demaryius Thomas needs to stop dropping easy balls as well. They have been drive killers.
Essentially, everyone on the offense needs to play better. I also think the play calling could be better, since the offense calls plays that are blatantly obvious to sniff out; wasting a down. It's a really good thing that it's the bye week. The big issue with the offense is the red zone. They haven't been able to finish, and get touchdowns in there, thus leaving lots of points on the board. And clearly those are gonna be a premium this season.
