WTH does any of this have to do with the game?

In football. In hockey, it's not ideal, but it's far from a disaster.

Do I have to take off my dress shoes when I enter your home? My dress socks are tattered and have holes in them

If we're playing like this at the 15-20 game mark then yeah lets start to worry.

Does this greaser crap have to invade every thread on this board? Enough with the mullets, dress socks, sweat pants. Could we talk about the Flames game and just get over the whole oilers crap for once?

Geez

I guess this board is as serious as a job.

Seriously I can't believe how tied up in knots this board is becoming.

And would get them quite comfortably into the playoffs in 14 of the last 15 seasons.

I don't like it when the Flames lose either. But no team, not even the laughable Oilers, are out of an 82 game season after 5 games. It's completely ludicrous to suggest otherwise.
It's not. If you feel this team after losing tomorrow to the worst team in the NHL has a greater probability to hit 102 (or even 100 point pace for 97) than not then fine. I argue otherwise that the balance of probability while still very early points to an uphill climb with the odds not in their favour.

Last year was a stat busting year for this team, it is very probable that dispite the added paper talent this team continues to struggle, or is not good enough to endure. It happens to all teams, see the Avs last year.

I am not throwing in the towel on this team after 5 games, but if they continue to throw away games they will probably look like the Kings did last year. A point or two out and a long of second guessing where the point they needed went.

It's not about being serious. It's just enough. Dumpster fire. Sweat pants. Mullets. Can we not just talk about the damn Flames?

Back to the team and the game.

1-3 means absolutely nothing.

The team is struggling out of the gate, but its hardly time to take old yeller out back and put a bullet in his head.

Frankly right now the issue to me is around finding chemistry, period. We have a lot of parts playing well, and some parts that are looking lost, especially on the lines except for the first line and the defensive pairings.

Frankly I can't blame the goaltending tonight, he allowed 2 goals against and he was under siege, the offense isn't doing a good job of supporting the goaltending. We scored one goal.

If we're sitting at 1-9 then I start to worry, but I don't think it will get that far.

I'm seeing good effort by most of the players it's execution that is failing right now.

As long as we come out of the first 10 games of the season with at least 4 wins I'm completely confident, not only that we could make the playoffs from there, but be comfortably in the playoffs. 3-7 or worse and I'll be expecting us to miss and possibly miss badly.

6 more games before any judgments should be made.

Has there recently been any updates on Brodie?

We really really miss that guy...

Didn't watch the game, I was out watching the Jays instead. I'm with those who are saying don't panic yet. Just beat the Oilers tomorrow and we will be fine. Lose to the Oilers and we are in trouble. As long as we win 2 of 3 periods we should be OK.

Getting Brodie back will be a godsend. Having said that this team reminds me slightly of the Sutter era Flames right before they traded Phaneuf. On paper, looks to be a little heavy on D, and slightly weak on forward depth. Minus all world goaltending. No need to panic now whatsoever, having said that I feel this team will need a little offensive help on the second line at some point.

Expecting big years from Frolik, and again from Hudler. The group of forwards is responsible defensively; another dynamic winger would really change the look of this team.

Very disappointed in Hamilton so far. Yeah he's young but he is on a big contract. Not playing close to it yet.

Like what I saw from Backlund and Frolik.

Not a horrible road game but Flames need to start creating some sustained pressure. Once again outplayed for long stretches.
