Arrogance? No.

Excitement after one of the most bizarre innings of baseball ever played? Yes.

I hardly doubt they thought winning the division was like winning the World Series to them. Thats just speculating to the max. Every interview they have done with any of the players they have all said that winning the World Series is the ultimate goal.

I wasn't going to watch because I was scared of the disappointment. But at 15:30 I decided to take the chance. Wow. That 7th inning was an amazing sporting sequence...

I'm pretty sure the city of Toronto and the Toronto PD owe Bautista a key to the city. Not for the win, but for preventing a riot had they lost.

this is going to be one of those games that when you read the score sheet you won't have a clue what a fantastic game that really was.

Don't really watch baseball and just hearing about the 7th inning thing, saw the replay and while I understand how it is a live ball, what I don't understand is how he can score after the ump waves the play dead.. or is that not "official" like the ref blowing the whistle?

I'm going to go ahead and say that passed Alomar on Eckersley in 1992 as the second greatest home run in Blue Jays history.

Apparently the ump doesn't have the ability to wave the play dead when the ball is live.

Even on a dead ball, the umpires can award runners certain bases if they think the runner would have reached it regardless. Even though the ump's stupidity caused Donaldson to give up on the play, he wasn't going to get Odor out anyway.

I'm tuning in to see if Drake is in the Jays locker room. Only a matter of time before that guy pokes his nose in their business.

The runner was already in motion toward the plate, and there wasn't a defensive play to be made, so the ump waving the play dead wasn't the issue so much as whether the play was legal. It was legal, and since it was in motion before the ump did anything, and the play could only end one way, the call was the right one. Weird and unfortunate, but the right one. The ump actually stayed out of the outcome of the game from the first pitch to the last, and did a great job. If only all games were called leaving the outcome to the players.

Edit : what Mathgod said.
