I think you completely missed the point. Concussions can change the brain, often permanently. Some players get lucky and others don't. What might be an insignificant concussion to one player is a serious concussion to another. The brain is a very delicate organ, and even slight changes can cause debilitation in major ways.

Doesn't anyone remember when Sidney Crosby's career was in jeopardy due to post-concussion syndrome?

Could be the concussion, could be a bad attitude or a combination of any number of things. Fact remains that prospects don't always pan out. Even highly regarded ones.

I personally don't care for the "he doesn't care or doesn't work hard enough" explanation, as we can't really know what is going on in his head. Suffice it to say, the Flames were of the view that it was worth moving him to a rival for a 2nd. And it seems to have been a good move so far.
