Either way we really need secondary scoring among the forwards.

Damn, Edmonton must have 30 developed lines by now.

Be prepared for about 4 Flames penalties in a row. Official NHL rules. All teams must receive the equal number of power plays.

Saw the positives and negatives of Kris Russell in that period. Great at moving the puck up the ice, but gets beat in the corner far too easily leading to the goal against (Hamilton then got out battled as well sadly).
That Jiri goal was massive. Being tied at 1 while being 0/4 on the PP would've set the stage for a disaster. Johnny, Jiri, Monahan and Wideman making it happen again.
Good to see Raymond get rewarded.
Backes is a dirty puke.
/1st period.

Yes, he deflected the puck. Just one of the skills 100% of NHL players have.
Special player.

Holy crap the audio is terrible on SportsNet during HockeyCentral. Why do sports shows insist on playing crappy guitar music during highlights, and in SN's case, so loud I can barely make out the commentator.

I'm surprised that SportsNet is wasting time showing us other games.
There's probably at least 7 more angles we haven't seen of the McJesus goal, 12 opinions of the panel, 10 year predictions based on the goal and a shift-by-shift breakdown of how we got to the goal that we haven't seen yet!

At least now he can't score his first against us. That would be annoying.

What was he doing? No penalty on that? The guy was facing the other way the whole time. Blah.

Strange seeing all the negative comments on here during that period.
I thought the Flames really carried the play. While they gave up a lot more shots on net, only a couple were really dangerous. The Flames played a lot in the offensive zone and very little in their own zone, unless my internal clock is busted again. They drew 4 penalties, meaning the Blues were playing a step behind most of that period.
This is where the stats fail sometimes, because the Blues shoot the puck any time there's a lane at the net, and all shots not taken by Tarasenko were fairly routine saves for any NHL goalie. Hiller had a couple nice stops, but he didn't have to stand on his head or anything.
I'm encouraged by what I'm seeing. That's probably the strongest overall period the Flames played in terms of executing their system. Needs to be a little stronger in the shot suppression category, and they eventually made the adjustment on the PP to handle the overaggressive Blues PKers (see Wideman's move to the middle of the ice on the Hudler goal for a great example). I just hope they continue this the whole game.
Couple of odd things: I don't remember seeing Kulak and Engelland at all that period. Can anyone verify them being on the ice? Also, Hamilton looks a little better, but he can be a much stronger player. I have a feeling Hartley is going to be moulding him throughout the year. Seems like he's an unfinished talent still.

Lifetime Suspension

Mcdavid would be suspended if his name was glencross or something. Instead all the talking heads will commend his gritty hit and goal and call it a "gordie Howe" esq shift. Brutal. I'm already sickened by the whole debacle up north. Can we sign regehr to come tunnel of death this kid?
