Hey guys,
Well its time for poison to get a new bed for numerous reasons (and yes i fully expect some references as to "how" i wore this out)
Anyway just thought id pick your guys' brains if anyone has bought one recently or knows of good places to go for prices etc.
Ive already checked out Sleep Country and think im getting a pretty good deal for a pocket coil king size with frame and egyptian cotton sheets for $1500, agree/disagree?
Any help or thoughts would be appreciated, thanks.

dude, you shouldn't be asking guys opinions on beds, we'd sleep on a sack or a couch if we could get away with it.
A girl is the only one that you should ask. they have the whole bed selection thing down to a science.
they know thread counts, and hardness of the pillows and matress. they know the scienctific thickness of a blanket.
We're the wrong people to ask

True enough captain, lol, i took my girlfriend with me and she pretty much "showed" me what i needed but i thought others here might know a good place at least for pricing and whether that price i got from sleep country was pretty good or not.
(However since you mentioned thread counts im sure youve got some knowledge of the subject...... )

I'm sleeping on a double bed from Canuck Tire. Yep, one of the inflatable ones. It's pretty big, portable, sturdy, and cheap. Perfect for a student. I highly recommend it. Just don't bring the ladies over and it won't wear out as fast (probably won't happen anyways when they see the bed).
Agree with Cap'n Crunch... better go ask at the Canucks board... or the oilers board will do.

All I know about thread count is that if I ever buy walmart sheets again I'm in the doghouse

shop around a ton on this purchase. You usually can end up saving so much money. I got mine at the Bay I think for $1300, regular $3000 for a king size.

I just bought a queen set from Sears 3 months ago, all I know is that my back doesnt hurt anymore so I'm pretty happy with it. Just make sure it's not too firm or too soft, if you can feel like you're gonna fall asleep right away when you're on the bed even after 3 cups of morning coffee, then it's probably the right one for ya

I got one from bedroom outfitters on centre street S about 5 years ago-- still one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on... They know their stuff there that's for sure.

I did some serious bed shopping about 2 years ago. I found out the same bed has different names at different stores. I'm making these up, but for example, store A will carry a Sealy Dreamquest and store B will call the exact same bed a Sealy Goodnight. You have to familiarize yourself with the bed specs in order to do an apples to apples comparison.
I ended up at Costco and found what was $1500 bed at SleepCountry for about $750. However, Costco doesn't remove your old bed, so I challenged SleepCountry to their "matching" policy. When I told the salesperson about the bed at Costco, he simply brought out a book and said "Yup, you're right" and gave the bed to me for the Costco price. It was a Sealy something. Queen size.
The variances in bed prices for the same thing was amazing. I believe the same bed was on sale at Sears for closer to $2000.

I dunno, $1300 for a King Size Simmons with frame and bedding seems really low.
A couple years ago I bought a Simmons Paragon Queen Size with a heavy duty 6 leg bed frame for $2000.
Double Quilt top (both sides of mattress), extra deep mattress and extra firm.
I love this bed and the only thing I would do differently next time would be to buy a King Size.
My back feels so much better since I bought the bed. I sleep much better now knowing that I will be 100% comfortable when I get into bed.
Beware, once you take the plunge on buying a pricier bed you will kill yourself trying to find the perfect pillows to sleep on.

If you're not looking to spend a bunch of $$ I saw some decent looking beds and box springs at the Liquidation/ XPwares or whatever it's called on 32nd NE just east of Deerfoot. Maybe try them?

Well then reaper i feel even better about that purchase if you think its an awfully low price, unless youre telling me the quality is going to suck on it.
Its a sealy so i dont know how it could and its a pocket coil which rule, i guess i should have mentioned im getting it at a good price due to their anniversary sale and im doing a mix and match on the box springs, which is no big deal to me whatsoever but it drops the price another $300.

I found the Sears outlet store in deerfoot mall to have the best prices. They carry the items that were slightly damaged in shipping and in turn give you huge discounts.
