Last year at this time, fans from other teams where dissing Gaudreau's nickname.

After the performance tonight, I doubt any Canucks fans will say "He doesn't deserve to be called Johnny Hockey" any more.

Given time, Johnny will burn every team badly (remember the Kings last year), and fans everwhere will realize he's not just good, he's Johnny Hockey!

One day the Flames should have an "around the league" report where players read these posts about themselves from rival fans ala Celebrities Read Mean Tweets. Would be gut-busting hilarious I think. Imagine Hudler!

Did Hartley make any comments about Raymond's game?

Would be great if Raymond could pull a Wideman last season.

Turn a scratch for the season opener into a decent/great season.

Gaudreau has been hit and it's incredibly hard to do, they tried last night. He hesitated for about .3 seconds, two Canucks tried to crunch him and right as they did he slipped away and a Canuck hurt his wrist (Virtanen I think). Johnny has a reaction time about .2-.5 seconds faster than the other players so he purposefully gets players to try to check him as he'll just go right around when they do. He nearly split 4 Canucks for a breakaway yesterday.

It was Hamuis hitting Bartkowski, and Bartkowski getting hurt.

I think I've seen more missed attempts at hitting Johnny Hockey than I've seen shots blocked by Kris Russell.

Opposing fans who think their players "just aren't trying" are deep into the 'wishful thinking' category.

Typical ignorant Canuck fan verbal diarrhea.

Why not hit Gaudreau? They think no one has tried?

Who cares about hitting Gaudreau, shouldn't their strategy be score more goals than the other team?

Apparently Canucks fans are under the impression that their team is 'tough.'

Cheap-shots from Dorsett and Prust have given them this impression.

As long as the flames do all they can to protect Johnny from the dirty hits in the league he's going to put up some awesome numbers. Every time he was on the ice it seemed he was creating something out there.

The concern for me is how often I see him taking viscous slashes from guys... And how rarely it gets called. It happened a lot in the preseason this year. Good thing he wears the wrist protectors. You look at the other smaller elite talents in the league and their only Achilles heel (if you can call it that) has been dirty plays by their opponents. Kane's injury for example last year. Or the brutal hit to the head Skinner took early in the season last year I think.

Johnny is probably as elusive as players get when it comes to avoiding hits. Make sure Ferland, engelland, bollig... The whole team in fact... Are ready to freak the **** out on a whole team if they try any head shots or dirty plays on Johnny. Won't be surprised if Monahan has his first fight this year sticking up for Johnny. And it will be glorious.

Gaudreau gave a pretty good slash of his own to Sutter last night. He's not going to outmuscle anyone, but he doesn't need much space and he'll make just enough of his own.

60.53 SAT% with 71.43 offensive zone starts, 5 on 5 over 2 games. Around 14 minutes of ice-time per game, with just under 3 minutes of that being PP time.

He wasn't very noticeable at all last night.

Reminds me of the gif of Backlund doing the same to a Canucks fan after scoring last season.

Anyone have that .gif handy?

I know this is getting beaten to death, but can we please get Brandon Bollig to take a damn seat in the press box? Can we also please stop sending Mikael Backlund to the doghouse at completely random times? Bouma Backlund Jones, Ferland Stajan Jooris. How hard can it be? I mean, really? I'm so fed up with 6-7 minutes of Bollig being a damn boat anchor when we could actually roll four pretty good lines. Please make this happen versus the Blues Bob. Bouma Backlund Bollig as a line should never ever hit the ice again.

Its funny that the Canucks fans were wondering why nobody has laid out Johnny gaudreau yet as he is too shifty to get laid out
