For me I see Jankowski as a Backlund replacement in a few years. I look at him as a 6'4" Backlund clone.

At every single level since drafted Backlund was quite a bit better.
I haven't written Jankowski off, but your really selling Backlund short here

Bear this in mind: the Flames have seven first-year pros in the AHL this year to juggle. Jankowski going pro could've either (a) gotten him lost in the shuffle or (b) diverted some coaching attention away from guys that need it this year.
There are many, many reasons why he's back in Providence this year.

Does RITFW stand for "Regressed in their first week" as a tribute to McDavid? Curious..

Who the heck is writing off Draisaitl? No one. If they are it's to get a rise out of silly Oilers fans who post here for kicks.
Jankowski doesn't have that shiny 1st overall pedigree you Oilers fans are used to but he plays a solid 200ft game, is excellent in the faceoff department and has elite level hands and vision. A package rarely seen by the Oilers. Draisaitl is as close a comparable. Except Draisaitl is a less talented face off guy. And is a bit slower.

So how long before the board is in panic mode about signing Jankowski after his college season is over. Conroy needs to fuel up the jet and have the papers ready.

I don't think anyone is really going to be panicked, he's already said how the new management group has made him feel comfortable and wanted and that him going back for his 4th year being the 'guy' in a year where teams won't take them lightly anymore was the best for his development and it's easy to agree with that. Freeway nailed I think. Janko is going to be a nice little gem 5 or 6 years after he was drafted just like Feaster predicted and we can thank Feaster and his management/scouting team yet again for another great draft pick. They've handeled his development extremely well IMO.

Jankowski continues his strong start to his season. Jankowski with a 2 point night in his 3rd game.
Looks like he is currently 3rd in NCAA scoring and on a 3 game point streak.

If he stays consistent he'll be far exceeding my expectations of him offensively this season. Keep it rolling kiddo.

I don't think even the biggest Janko boosters would expect 2PPG+... that's Johnny territory.

I'm one of em lol. And I wasn't even expecting 1 ppg. anything near that is gravy for me. He's such a stud in the faceoff dot and defensively that I really don't mind the limited numbers offensively. That being said, I've always contended that we would not see Janko's offensive prowess until he was out of the Providence system. He's blooming early in my book.

I've never seen Janko play... the descriptions given in the last few pages have me thinking about Joel Otto (one of my favourite, all-time Flames)... is there any reasonable comparison there???

last 2 games he's been under 50% on FO's. Anyone know if he faced strong centers or still just a work in progress? I know it's a small sample size but I thought that was one of the more polished aspects of his game? Did I read last year he was over 70% or is my mind wishful thinking?

Stylistically, Jor Thornton's playmaking has been referenced. Better skater though. Some extreme hopefuls have tossed around Niewy's name. But that's pretty ambitious IMO. Even half of Niewy is a home run

Similar smarts that Monahan has, but is more of a playmaker to Monahan's shooter.
Not as good of a player as Mono, obviously, but he's pretty good in his own right.
Him and Monahan could very well be the #1 and #2 centers moving forward.
He would have to show that he can do what he did at the end of last season, in July, and thus far this year in the NHL next year but he looked really good when I saw him live and his outburst the last two weeks is not surprising in any way.

If Janko does turn out to be a valid choice as a #2 center, putting Bennett on wing would suddenly start to make much more sense.
Very long way to go obviously. But great to see the good start anyway.
