Prior to this year, the Australian Rugby Union would only select players playing domestically in Australia for the Wallaby side. The New Zealand Rugby Union have a similar rule; to be considered for All Blacks selection you must play your rugby in New Zealand.
Earlier this year Australia relaxed the rules and now allows overseas-based players to be eligible for selection in the Wallaby side.

They must think a lot of lonely people watch the Rugby World Cup, theres been ads for 3 separate online dating websites.
As for the matches though, I want to see Scotland vs. Wales, I think that would be an awesome match.

I figured it was something like that, that seems like a strange policy. If they're good enough to make the team who cares where they ply their trade?

Yeah, Wales may not like that but that was a great call by the referee's assistant for the neck-roll.

There's a few reasons that the NZRU maintains it's stance:
- The chance to play for the All Blacks is leverage to keep players in NZ, keep talent in Super Rugby, and keep crowds coming to games.
- The NZRU can't compete financially with Europe or Japan. It would open the floodgates for a talent exodus.
- Logistics. Overseas clubs would own the player, and make it difficult for players to be released for international games. And the NZRU carefully manage the workloads and physical/mental state of players in the system, this is out of their control for players overseas.
The argument is that the system enables New Zealand to stay at the top of the game.

Makes sense.
I heard the ref ask the Welsh Captain to: 'Please stop yelling at me.'
I wish we had these refs for hockey and soccer.

Rugby has some great refs, and I love that they are mic'ed up. Always know what is going on.
Wales piling on the pressure and Australia down to 14 men for a few minutes. Great game so far.

That looks like it for Wales. A yellow for a deliberate knock-on with only a few minutes left.

Twas a yellow for being too cowardly and not committing to the ball.
He saw the Aussie coming and pulled out. Could have easily caught it if he was willing to take the hit.
