My aunt worked on The Revenant in extras casting, and said it was by far the hardest shoot she's ever seen, especially relying only on natural lighting. But damn if it doesn't look fantastic on screen
I have a friend who did production security, and he said that is was really difficult, bordering on dangerous with the temperature sometimes. People would literally be laying in the snow for hours in costume. Alejandro probably wasn't too popular. Still though, it looks stunning and I can't wait to see it.
Everything I've heard about this movie reminds me of JAWS. Overly difficult shooting conditions, a dedication to keeping things looking realistic, people being super annoyed. It could all add up to awesome.

It was posted a while ago but this still looks like a really good movie:
they pretty much give away the entire plot in trailers these days. I don't see the point of doing that, it doesn't build any real tension. Why not have scenes from the beginning or end of an act instead of small parts from the entire movie?

I can see what you're saying, but in this case this is a very classic story that many have heard of before.

This is why I didn't re-watch the trailer. I remember thinking the same when I saw the trailer months ago. Thankfully I've forgotten pretty much the whole thing.

I know the basic idea but never read the book. Great white whale, Ahab trying to kill it, that's all I knew. The trailer gave away the whole darn thing. Like a 3 second snippet from the climax of every act.
